My new and old ride--JDM IX and JDM VIII!
Guys, I released the brand new JDM IX 3 days ago. I ordered the IX from Japan, had it driven straight to the port, and into the container. From here I released it, drove it right out of the container myself. Sadly, no dealer over here brings evos, so I had to import it myself.
I had some troubles, as the suspension spacers were still installed, and I didn't know at first what to do. All the underpanels and other parts all came in packages and I had to install them myself. I installed the mitsubishi 2-DIN player, only to find out there are no speakers pre-installed!! So, now I have to buys some good speakers and install them in the pre-wired slots. Talk about extra work!
My impressions of the 9 was--WOW! Both my cars are complete stock. But the IX immediately felt much smoother. It has very good low end torque. The exhaust sound is more refined and throaty. Actually, the VIII seems more raw--at least upto now. Maybe when the IX is properly broken in, it's behavior might change.
The other thing that I liked about the IX, is the gear shift action. It seems to have a much better feeling---snickety snick! Even the turbo spooling sounds different. At idle, the IX seems quieter, which I prefer.
Bilstein shocks are a blessing for me as the roads here cannot be called roads compared to US or European standards. So, pretty much I have to do off-roading all time! These shocks absorb all the bumps a lot better .
The interior is without a doubt more upgraded than the VIII. At least, I can say I paid so much to get an interior which is at-par.
The mileage I get from a liter of gas is much better than the VIII, which will save me a lot of money, considering the gas price here.
The VIII is definitely a great car(great color too) , and I would have loved to keep both. Sadly, I think I have to let go of the VIII. I'll be saving up for the GTR in 2007-8.
