2.4 with stock evo head

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has ever done a 2.4L build, and run a stock evo head?

I have a an Eclipse with the 4G64 2.4L that im going to be doing an EVO head swap on soon.

But Im kinda low on funds and want to run the stock evo head(stock cams etc) until I get a couple more bucks for some 272s or 280s.

ANyone have experience doing this? How did it turn out?
Im running the AEM EMS, with 1000cc RCs, and a t3/t04e. Fully built bottom end.

Thanks for any info.

It just drops in with no problem just make sure you use apr head studs only. I have a buddy that builds this setup once every other month. That bad boy is going to pull like crazy with the stock turbo. Good luck with your setup.

Yea I already have ARP head studs, mains, etc. Eagle rods, wiseco pistons. I had a full engine build done at Road Race Service.

Im just wondering how the stock camshafts do.

Thanks for the quick response.

The stock cams are very restricting on the stroker setups.

I think some of you may have not read my orig post closely enough.

I want to run STOCK EVO HEAD at first. Thats what I was asking specifically about. I know a fully built evo head and fully built 2.4 kicks ***. And I will eventually go there with the head. But for now, im gonna run fully built 2.4 and STOCK EVO HEAD.

Thats what I want to get an idea of, how its going to peform.

i am thinking about doing the same thing. i am considering doing a 2.3 and ix-20g. would there be benefits adding a ported head? the reason i ask is because im not going to run a big turbo like the 35r, so i figure the flow would still be ok. i would definitely appreciate everyone's help. thanks!

Ive heard that porting the evo head doesnt do much good, relatively speaking. Its mainly for the hard core people. But I have no experience with this, its just what I have heard.

I dont plan on porting mine even once I go with larger camshafts.

LOL, I know huh?

Well, by the time the engine and trans are ready to go back in with the new evo head, ill prob have the new camshafts anyway. Hehe

Anyways, I hear from reliable sources the stockers are good for probably 450-500hp but that my power band will be ****. Which makes sense.

We'll see what happens I guess.
