Cheap tires = no grip... I think you need to rethink why you bought an evo.

Falken RT-615's are about $160 a tire. They last about 15k - 20k miles

Look at the Nitto 555's . They are cheap and the grip is decent. They are better than most people think, but with all of the Mario Andretti wannabes who think they know a lot about tires, they will trash them.

I had them on a prior car and, for the money, they were great tires. There are couple of decent Falken tires out there too. They are not good track tires, but for everyday driving, they are perfect.

Get another set of Yokohamas and be done with it. All these posts saying "such and such tire is just as good as the stockers" means you should just go with the AVS.

Ive had nothing but good experiences from the St115s from Falken. They are decently priced too.

He wants cheap tires. Yokohama's are $220+ per tire. I wouldnt call that cheap. Why spend that when you can get a set of tires that are as good as stock?

The stock tires are great. Expensive to replace, but all and all great. I couldn't see spending that much to replace mine with the same due to a bad set I rcv'd on the Evo when new (7K miles and broken belts in each tire and no help from Mitsu or Yokohama) So I went with the Yokohama AVS ES100's....Loved them so much I ordered a set of 245/40's to also fit my 18's on my other set for the Evo. But to each his own....

Not everyone posses the bank account as you....let him buy what he wants to be, at least he was able to buy an evo. if he plants his evo into a wall because of his tire choice, let him deal with it.

hankook or kumhos are inexpensive. However, the mile/$ ratio isnt very high either, as they may wear quicker. So you really dont save in the long run.

avon m500's are decent for the cost. try searching in the tire & wheel section.

Depending on what you are going to do with these tires? Drive them daily or go to the occasional track days?
If it's everyday commute then you can go for softer sidewall tires like the Kumho MXs or other performance tires with a higher tread wear rating.
But for the semi track day junkies then go for something like Falkens. They are cheap but still have good performance.
