In Hawaii anything 30+ over the speedlimit and they can take your car and auction it!

I think some major groveling would be appropriate.

Good luck...

I strongly disagree. Weve all had our fair share of big speeding tickets, in fact, Ive outrun cops on my bike going in excess of 185mph on a ZX12R. Something Im ashamed of, for in the instance I can say I could have been so easily killed placing that shame on my family dying for a strupid reason. But thats not my point, I DID have fun while it lasted.

The point was when it comes to speeding and tickets of that severity the law shows little mercy. None....as a matter of fact. A good lawyer can HELP, but no getting off with minimal fines. I wish you the best, but in the future, try using some better judgement or make sure you are at least 95% sure you can get away with it (Nevada is a great place). Good luck

how is your driving record? are there any other major tickets within the last 5 years? if not you're actually not that bad off. here is a list of Tempe's traffic fine schedule. if you were on the freeway, 15+ or over is a minimum $350. criminal tickets are 3 points on AZ licenses. if the cop wrote down "exhibition of speed" or "aggressive driving" these are 8 point tickets which carry a fine of $500 & a 3 month license suspension. what was the ARS code & violation he wrote on the ticket???????????????????????????????

What about fighting the ticket by mail if you can't find an attorney?

try www.beatmyspeedingticket.com for tips & tricks. also when you go to court (u have to for criminal tickets in AZ) plead not guilty & schedule a PTC (pre trial conference). the prosecutor will build a case against you using your driving record & the ticket information. how did the cop read your speed? if it was a "pace" require that the officer admiss into evidence a speedometer certification of his patrol car (which they never check their car speedos for accuracy) within 14 days of your violation. if he cannot provide this evidence, move for a dismissal due to lack of evidence. if the cop used "radar" ask the court to admiss into evidence a copy of the calibration report for that day of the radar gun PRONGS not the gun itself. the prongs' frequency tells the cop what MPH you actually were doing. if they are unable to provide this report, move for a dismissal. if the cop used "laser" move for immediate dismissal due to the inaccuracy of the unit since it is affected by something as little as temperature or wind speed. all this will only work if your driving record is relatively clean & u can do this yourself so save the $ on lawyer fees. also go to www.servicearizona.com & pull a 5 year MVR report so U KNOW EXACTLY what is on your record in case they try to add sheat...

in AZ, a criminal ticket REQUIRES a court appearance or they issue a warrant for your arrest.

sorry i did not reply sooner guys.. Carlos thx for your comment. I think you are the only one that posted on here that knows me..

Now to answer some of your questions.
I have a perfect driving record.
My lawyer will go to court for 1300 but recommended i keep my money. she is very experienced here and says that if it was 90 or maybe even 100 mph we might have a chance but anything over that we are screwed.. this is arizona and if you have ever been on the 101 it is very hard to run and hide.. The bike got chased down and arrested.. I am assuming from all the calls that came in over the police radio while i was in the car that he had a ton of cops on him when they finally got him... and yes I won. not that it really matters.. I do want to talk to other lawyers. My attorney even knows the judge and has had him pull some strings before on duis.. she says she doesnt think he is going to budge on this one.. this is a criminal offense that comes with three points to my liscense. For those of you that said I should pay for what I did and who chastized me for speeding I somewhat agree with you.. I made a mistake and It was dumb.. there were no cars on the road that night but it was still dumb.. the police officer paced me so I cannot use the gun or lidar against him... He didnt even get a chance to pace me with his car.. He says he paced me but told me he did it mostly by sight.. although I cant prove he said that.. He said he paced me at 110 for a quarter mile but I know that is false because by the time he caught up to me I was already pulling over... If anybody knows numbers of good attorneys rather than post them on here please do me a huge favor and pm me.. I also want to thank everybody on this site who was nice enought to try and post good advice.. I am a new member and I thought every one would try and burn me on here but for the most part you guys have tried to help thx..

also if you have any great info please call me at 602-703-7542. thx again so much.. I am absolutley sick over this..

Whatever happens, even if you get off easy, just make sure you learn from this and slow down. Goodluck!

No problem Karma, I have been there and I have been there double each time(civilian court and military court) for the same issues.

You are not any criminal, you are not any offender and to me this is not a felony, this is the freaking traffic system and the opresive trafic law and law enforcement that we have in tjis country which are ridicolous.

I have been in court many times. The last time I got a ticket it was in New Mexico, the officcer pull me over doing 81 in a 75 on I -10. He gave me a ticket but I never pay it, it never got into the system.

You always have a chnace that the officer might not show up on court(he can be sick, ill, have an appoinment, be late, forgot, etc, etc)

Once in court, you MUST play like the most humble person, consistently make comments like: I have a lot of bills to pay... I don't have any savings...I don't have any money now.. I am willing to pay but I can't afford that much sir...

Most of the times your penalty gets reduced to about 50% or 60% of the original quantity. It is very important that you bring some cash to the court because the judge is going to ask you: Mr Karma, How much money can you pay me today?

Then you don't bring the entire amount but offer him a portion. I want to bet whatever that you will only pay a portion.

Another decisive comment that I think that you should mention is to let him know that you just got that car 2 weeks ago and that it was an isolated incident and that you don't have that habit.

I will ask my next door neighboor wich is a Tucson Police officer and I will ask him some court tips.

Good luck Karma.

I am sorry but you must be kidding! HAving an EVO means that you will not be driving slow, not pushing the car into corners hard and putting the hammer down into the floor.

If you want to keep it save, get the OZ Rally or something that you know won't tempt you to 3x the speed limit.

Yeah, going wheelies at 85 is so much fun until you dump at 45, in shorts with n o helmet and a cleanex for a shirt. Good thing I had my kevlar gloves to ride on, or else I would have no face. And it was just a little deer that I hit before I rode the pavement like a sack of dirt.

After my gloves wore threw to the bone, I flipped over to the otherside like a pancake. The next 6 seeks were pure hell. But I kept my foot which was nice.

Taking percocet - no. Crunching them in my mouth and wolfing them down every 2 hours - yes.

An once of prevension is worth a pound (ton) of cure.
Now I am too old to be that stupid. (Most of the time that is)

If you think someone going 165 on a public highway doesn't need to slow down you're a moron.
