Is there honestly anything faster out there???

I've owned a fast Camaro, fast Supra, quick evo, and quick vr4. I will say this. Ifg you want straight line speed with still some modern technology, there really is no other better alternative. Get an ls1 f-body, put $1k worth of nitrous on it, run low low 11's (my friend ran an 11.1 through a stock automatic on a 150 shot and catback only on his camaro). If you want an all out package, an evo is a great compromise between everything. I personally liked the Supra but not enough to waste the money on buying another. For the money I believe there are way better optinos out there. Just make sure you look at EVERYTHING before buying your car. I personally would, and am going to eventually, get an ls1 rx7. No contest there

Mid 80's porsche 911 (930) turbo, Supra of course, corvette, ss camaro, Mr2 turbo (how could every one forget that one), 300zx turbo, 03+ cobra, viper RT/10 (I seen one or two for unde $30k), Lotus esprit turbo (another one rare but can be had for under 30), Evo, STI, S2000 turbo, Sc300 w/supra motor, My first choice would be S13, S14 240sx w/rb26dett (they have swap kits) + basic mods will net you skyline horse power in a light weight body for under $20k, or even better miata with 13B turbo swap, FD Rx7 with 3 rotor swap insane horse power potential.

Supra..
You can get them in great condition for under 20k if you are patient.
high miles? they are toyotas..not mitsu's, don't trip because of 90k miles.
10k can get you a 700hp supra easy, and still be reliable / practical / good gas mileage / c6 z06 killer

i think it was sport compact car that did a right up on the best cars for under 30k the evo rs was in there and they couldnt really come up w/ anything bad about it....i think the choise is clear.

doing an rb26dett swap in a 240sx is ridiculously expensive though. you need the rb25 transmission and when it's all said and done, the swap alone is like $20k I beleive. I was looking at something like that awhile back and unless it's more readily available now, I remember it used to be around that price range.

Seriously though, you have a WRX so you prolly know a lot of the problems with Impreza's - that they're rather costly to make quick and aren't really as bulletproof as evo's.

Supra...period.
They one arguably one of THE best powerplants made to date. They can be setup anyway you choose, and excel and any type of racing you please. Check back at all the Super Street Street Car contest and read about the Supra.
If I had to do it again, I'd find a nice, higher mileage Supra. With 5k put into it, you can have 500hp and drive it daily. Want 1200+ hp? Grab a loan and take it to Titan Motosports. Want to Auto-X it? Grab some tires and brake pads and hit the pavement! Want to road race it? Get the Warrtalon Driver Mod and tear it up.
*All this is my own opinion*
I obviously chose an Evo 8 for the time being, and am very happy with it!

Get an LS1 T/A with the RAII hood...had it not been so impractical, I never would of sold mine (milage, winter, gas). Fast as hell, cheap (realatively) to maintain/repair, not too bad to work on.
*edit* and they're ******* sexy.
(not mine)

The EVO is my far and away favorite car and I'm 99% sure it's what I'm getting, but just in case Mitsu tries to f*ck me or something I like to keep my options open with other possibilities. So I've looked at some other vehicles, but I haven't limited it too just Imports, also some European models and you would be surprise what you can get.
I'm not sure if anybody has noticed, but the author of this thread has a 2004 WRX. Honestly, do you think a SRT-4 is much of an upgrade, if any? I wouldn't even consider a SRT-4, nice car, but going from a WRX to SRT-4 is not really a big jump in performance in my opinion (AWD to FWD, please, LOL).
For under $30k Imports, the EVO in my opinion is far and away the champion, you can purchase a brand new 2006 EVO IX RS for just under $30k and a used 2005 EVO VIII RS/GSR/MR for under a $30k. Also a 2006 EVO IX GSR is not that much more expensive than $30k. If you choose the IX RS, what you will get is quite possibly the most awesome EVO platform date. On the right track, with a good driver, the EVO IX RS will run high 12s@105-106mph in the 1/4 mile. The handling and braking of this car is on super car levels, it's truly an amazing vehicle.
Another option, and one you may be more comfortable with since you do own a WRX currently, is a 2004 or 2005 WRX STi. In my opinion stock for stock, the WRX STi is near equal to the EVO in performance, but once you throw mods on the car, it's really no contest. Yes you can make power with the STi, but your not going to make it as cheaply and easily as you do with the EVO VIII and definitly not the EVO IX.
The Supra is another choice, but good luck finding one with low miles and under $30k. They are out there, I did a search and found a 1995 Supra Twin Turbo with 27,000 miles on it going for under $30k, but other than that all the Supras I found were over 70,000 miles. So my point is yes you can find a Supra TT for under $30k, but it depends on how used of a vehicle do you want and how far are you willing to travel to purchase it. Is an over 10 year old Supra really that much more attractive than a brand new vehicle?
Now the NSX, great car, but not a great car to modify on a budget. Also do a search and if your looking for a NSX under $30k, the newest models you are going to find is a 1993. If I remember correctly, that is the 270HP version, that ran very high 13s/low 14s. With around $3,000 worth of mods, you can get that thing to run mid to low 13s, wooooo, watch out now. that's a beast, just kiddin. It can handle nice and the brakes are alright, but sorry in pure performance it is no EVO or STi. If it was a newer NSX version I'd say a good choice, but 1993 and lower NSX vs. 2005/2006 EVO or 2005 STi, sorry the EVO and STi is a better buy.
Some other choices I thought might interest you a little that can be had for under $30,000 (Imports and Euros)-
2006 Mazdaspeed 6
1999 Porsche 911 Carrera
2001 BMW M3
2001-2002 BMW M Roadster
2000 BMW M5
1998-1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4
2002 Mercedes C32 AMG
2002 Mercedes CLK55 AMG
2004-2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe
2003-2006 Nissan 350Z
2000-2005 Honda S2000

CLK55 AMG is the fastest car in that line up. People keep forgetting to mention the VW GTi R32, slightly slower than an EVO (I think), but a much rarer car, thus you get respek for driving one. I'm basically contemplating the same question right now. Selling my rex and buying an EVO/STi, I need more power. If I could find one for around 25k, I'd be getting an R33 for sure.
