Woo hoo, got me an MR!
Sorry, I just was so excited and I wanted to share. I traded in my beloved Evo 8 and got 21K for it, which means that I paid about 10K to drive it for 32 months. That works out to being like leasing the car for a touch over 300/month with no money down. That resale value on the evo really works in your favor. Paid MSRP for the MR, so I know the dealer made some cash, but in NorCal there are plenty of dealers who are happy to charge over MSRP for the car :|
No real thoughts since I'm still in the break in period, except that the ride is much better and the IX seems to have much more low end torque, though that may just be due to the gearing on the six speed. Highway cruising is as predicted- only a couple hundred rpm lower than the 5 speed. The seats are way nicer- I think the leather and alcantara is even nicer than the full leather with the SSL package.
I did it because I was running towards the end of my warranty with a little more than 2 years left on my loan, and I knew my resale value would take a plunge afterward. I was in a situation where I had about $6K positive equity in my car, which made the MR even more attractive- it's bound to retain even more value than the VIII. Also, with the 06's having the 5 year/60K warranty, I'd be covered for the term of my loan and having that killer warranty can only be good for resale. I know lots of people have had warranty issues, but I've had plenty of things fixed under warranty and I have been happy with Mitsu overall these past few years.
Anyway, I'm just going to go outside and sit in it... I know countless people have their MR's already but I'm happy to answer any questions if people have them. BTW- I'd have to say San Rafael Mitsubishi is one of the best dealers I've dealt with, the salesman is also the owner and as a result is more interested in the long term health of his dealership than any short term gain he'd get as a commissioned salesperson.
