ive got an 05 mr and i recently put on a turbo back full 3 inch exhaust with no cat. The thing is when u floor the throttle it misfires around 6 grand like every time then the service engine light comes on but not all the time i had auto zone run the computer and i figure it would say something like misfire but it came back as engine overboost has occured i think it was like code po238 or something. i found out if u roll on the throttle its fine most of the time but it only does it at high rpm. otherwise the car idles fine and the only other mod ive got is a airfilter and blitz bov. o yeah and iv got the o2 simulater thinking that would fix the prob but it didnt can anyone help me?

Uh yah, like has been mentioned many many times on here, if you get an exhaust with no boost control, it causes your boost to spike, because there is less back pressure. If you don't have a flash to remove fuel cut, then the higher boost causes fuel cut and you get an overboost code. You need an MBC, and you need a flash. Why you have a BOV, especially a Blitz, with no MBC is beyond what my brain can comprehend...

Your O2 sim just kept you from getting the cat code, which is obviously working, since you have no CEL until you hit fuel cut...

Please search. Those are 2 of the most basic things on the Evo, and it has nothing to do with "this import stuff."

A flash is a change in the way your car's computer runs the engine. The ECU controls everything - ignition timing, fuel delivery, boost. When you change bolt-ons, your stock ECU tries to protect the engine from blowing up due to overboost, lean fuel mixture, knock, etc. A flash is a reprogramming of the ECU to properly run the engine and get the most perfomance out of your bolt-ons.

scroll down on the forums page and talk to Al with Dynoflash or Turbotrix. They are great people and are capable of reflashing your ecu if you intend to do so. Good luck and if you have any questions on anything feel free to pm me.

you can also just get a flash that also controls the boost so there's no need for "that import stuff" like an mbc.
