I think the truth is that the Evo IX actually makes more than 300 HP. According to Vishnu, they're estimating around 320 hp at the flywheel on 91 octane. Looking at the R&T comparison:

The STI goes to 60 in a believable 5.1 secs, whereas the evo MR does it in 4.6. Now, 0-60 is a poor indicator of hp, but the trap speed difference between the two is insane...

I wouldnt think the SSL package with the sunroof or not having the MR aluminum roof would make a dramatic difference.. of course weight is weight, I dont think its gonna be super noticable. However if I was getting an Evo I wouldnt get the SSL, something about the recaros with leather im not a fan of.

It's as if Edmunds wanted to give the STI a chance by choosing the most top heavy, not to mention heaviest overall, Evo. Yet the Evo still wins. Mud in the Subaru's Tribeca-esque face. Tribeca, please.
