Starter problems :|

Hey guys,

im having an issue that about 1 out of 10 times i try to start my car, it just makes a 'click' noise, then i turn the key again and it 'clicks' then about the 3rd or 4th time, it just starts right up...... the clicking noise sounds just like the battery is dead, although when it finally cranks over, it's very fast, and all of the lights are bright, it doesnt appear to be a low battery....

any ideas?

check the top of the starter and make sure no bolts have fallen there. I had a bolt shorting my starter after installing a set of headers.

Bad starter! My truck was doing that for a while. I would make that clicking sound sometimes when I went to start it. Sometimes it would not turn over at all. I replaced the starter and it is fine now.

most likely the starter. Although if you have been in there you might have something else going on.

sometimes a battery will suprise you, i wouldn't completely rule it out.

Have you tried to take the key completely out after the first failure then insert it back in and try again? My 02 civic was acting like that sometimes and I think it wasn't reading the chip in the key correctly.
