Street tune vs. Race gas map/Alky
I am interested in running race gas or alky in the future. My goal is to up my boost to the highest, safest but still efficient psi possible. By it being alky or race gas, my car will be Dynoflashed for my mods on 93 oct. Do I need a way to get a different map for race gas or alky? If yes, what is the best option? SAFCII, UTEC, Gameboy, EMS?
Thanks

If you get alky, then that will be running all the time, so you just need the Dynoflash. If you are just going to run race gas occasionally, then you can get the dual stage Dynoflash that switches maps when you throw in the race gas and turn up the boost. If you are only going to do race gas and want to be in control yourself, then just get an SAFC that is set to 0 on pump gas, then self-tuned on race gas. You will also need a wideband O2 and pocketlogger to do your own tuning.

is it worth it??? Haha, come on man, catch up with the times. If you want to boost crazy and make crazy power all day long like you're on race gas, then you get alky. You didn't see my sig or my thread showing the power gains when I went to alky? Go take a look at threads I've started and concentrate on the one with the alky dyno analysis.
The kits are pretty reliable, but there's always the risk that a pump may fail. This is why Al chooses to use the 7lph nozzle that sprays less and chooses to tune to low 11 AFRs instead of 12 or higher, which is feasible on alky. This way, with the lesser nozzle and the lower AFRs, the hope is that even if the kit fails, you won't immediately blow your motor. There are others using the 15lph nozzle and/or running much leaner AFRs, which is fine, but they will be pretty much toast if the alky fails. So, it's up to you. If you're interested in running 25psi daily in a fairly safe manner, get the SMC alky kit from Al and then have him custom tune you.
I did 341/361 on my current setup with stock cams on 26psi. I did 347/383 at 28psi, but didn't want to run 28psi daily for road racing/daily driving purposes.
Btw, if you've been running 20psi all this time on 93oct, you've been cheating yourself.

I have a Forge UNOS coming from BR, HKS272 in the garage. Fuel pump and LICP will be ordered soon.
What do you mean that 20 psi on 93oct is cheating myself?

20psi is too low on 93oct - that's what I mean. 21-22psi on 93oct all day long...
With the UNOS, 272s, Walbro, and LICP, you will be ready for alky. After alky and a full custom reflash, you'll be one bad machine...

I ran methanol in my eclipse for 6months, and it was an m15 jet, and the af was low 11s. I didnt have a kit made by anyone on here, but it was pretty much like it. I had a pressure guage that would show me that the meth was working. I had a solenoid go out on me one time, and needless to say youll notice if its not working and let off.
Id honestly say the chances of it not working are pretty slim. Its definatly a mod I would do again and will when the time comes, but like warr said theres other things you should do before it, because you may be weird and be happy with it before the alky.
