I have had the Kartboy short shifter for a year and a half. I have a 2003 EVO VIII with 37,000 miles and no problems.

It is easier to rush a shift with a short shifter. This can increase wear for people who have no mechanical sympathy. If, however, you shift smoothly then it will cause no more damage than the stock one.

i heard because its a short distance the shift is much fast, getting past the obvious...the tranny can only shift so fast that it hurts it... thanks....i just dont want to worry about breaking anything...i need my car to be reliable and last me a little while..

As long as no grinding is involved

lol, i really wouldn't worry about it. it's not like your dog boxing your short shifter. use your clutch and shift the car how it's supposed to be shifted, and you shouldn't have any trouble with your short shifter.

The only problem I ran into with my short shifter is that I was shifting so fast that I would get locked out of gears. I later found out this was both the fault of the short shifter and the clutch (act street) so I wound up taking the shifter out. Everythings better now, for the most part.
