Help me make a decision... 8- x

Hello all, I've had my 04 evo 8 for about a year and a half now. I love the car and it's the best car I've owned so far 8- ) Lately I been thinkings about trading it in, selling it, maybe for another car or an evo 9. I dont owe to much on my 04, Id say I can pay the rest off within a year or so, but the thing is that with all the mods I want to do with my evo 04, I know the evo 9 will out perform it in a various ways. Also I have been thinking of other cars such as a rwd which I never drove before like an s2000, or 350z. It's like I love my evo, but I want a newer car already! I dont know why i keep getting this feeling, I keep second guessing myself on why I bought the 04 and then again I still love it. Should I keep the car and pay it off so it'l be mine a 100 per cent. Or shall I trade it in sooner or later for another car? I dont know what to do, I wanted to do cams and all of these other mods soon for my 04, but I think ill be wasting more money to get the power I want, which with the IX I can get the power I want quite easily. What should I do *- (

you will be in the hole at least 10 thousand dollars to upgrade to a 9. you will be in the hole more than that because you still owe on your 8. lets assume you owe 5 thousand on your 8. that means you will be in the hole at least 15 grand all said and done just to get a 9. keep the 8 and use that 15 grand to mod.

RWD are a lot of fun to drive. I wont be very excited about the 350z although it a great car but on the heavy side and the suspension is not up to bar. There are soo many of them out there but they are reliable. on the other hand I would be very excited on s2000 as its an amazing car and has amazing handling. Smooth power and enough to get you going nicely around the track or streets.

EVOIX is different car and you cant compare AWD to RWD but you can go and test drive it as you might fall in love.

I would keep the 04 and keep it stock but for an exhaust and good reliable tune

enjoy

I have driven a 350z Track Model and I was not impress with the power or handling compared to my EVO 9, but the Z is one hot looking car thougth Just go test drive a EVO 9 and 350Z and you will see the light.

how would he be in the whole? if he only owes a year worth of payments on his 8 he has equity.

just for kicks lets say he owes 6500 and he got 18-20k for the 04 evo hes got positive equity on the car that would go down towards the 9..........

so if he got a 9 for 30-31k hed have a nice fat down payment of 11500-13500

sounds like hes in a good spot to me, and i have no clue what his terms were with the 8 but damn with that much cake down hed have a real low payment (330 ish at 6.5apr)

gotta remember cars are not investments, were in the whole soon as we ride out the lot...

good thing about the evo is it holds its value pretty damn good...

My car is in I'd say goooooood condition, but not perfect (great) condition. About a year about on feb 14th of 05, I got rear ended. Nothing major was done, only needed a new rear bumper, and my exhaust was bent, but I got a whole new exhaust system and new rear bumper with it. Will this affect my trade in or private sell because basically everything is brand new and no quarter panels or whatsoever was damaged. Also, I never drove a 350z yet but I do hear they are heavy and not as fast many think, but they look so sexy 8- ) haha. Yea I owe lets say somewhat less than half of what I bought my 04 for originally, I might have an ok downpayment because of my positive equity. Would it be better to sell it privately, because I am not sure if I want to take everything out of the car as far as the mods. I might take some stuff out if I do and leave some in. I appreciate the comments by the way guys, but I still am unsure about what I wanna do 8- x

exactly, he would not be in the hole per say his loan principle compared to the book value, however he would definitely be digging himself back into debt by at least 15 thousand dollars to get a 9. lets take your numbers.

he gets 20k for the car minus the 6500 he owes on principal, that leaves him with 13,500 dollars left as a down payment. put that towards a new 9 which is approximately 31k plus tax and licensing bring the grand total to about 34k. 34k - 13.5k = 20.5k of new debt plus the interest he would be paying througout the new loan. pretty expensive for a few extra ponies.

so its a choice of owning an 8 with 6.5k worth of debt or a 9 with 20.5k worth of debt. with these numbers it will cost 14k to upgrade to a 9 without considering new interest.

the accident will affect the value significantly.

It should not effect the resale value too much but expect 1K if they find out. if the fix job was great nothing should be effected. Good luck

How so if the car is fixed right with zero view on the damge? he said nothing touched the QP so that means no welding was involved. only bumper out bumper in.

It sould not effect. I used to work at a body shop.

well i wouldnt tell them you got into an accident although the trained eye would know anyhow.... thats not a big deal if the car was fixed correctly...

if you can sell it privately youll more than likely get more money for it, just gotta sit on it and wait.... but if the dealer gives you a fair trade allowance i would trade it in.... i would take off as many aftermarket parts off as i could and just sell em, the 9 is a great car out of the box...

i dont own one (not yet anyhow) and i drive my buds alot (im normally the DD)
and the car has plenty of pep right out of the box.... i dont plan to do anyhting to it soon after i get one for warranty reasons.

matter of fact we may take delivery of one later today if the dealer can work the numbers we want to be at....

ok cool, thanks for clarifying that, because I mean if somebody asks I will tell them it was involved in a rear end, but they might get all pansy and start trying to deduct the price by thousands right off the back and the car is in great shape. Besides the usual wear and tear, small scratches on rims and paint etc minor stuff..
