My Windshied Cracked..
My windshield cracked on me not sure what caused it. If it was a rock chip or defroster on a very cold day. Either way it's cracked. I searched the forums and many people cracked their windshied as well. So I am going with insurance if I don't get penalized for it or pay 250 for at a local glass shop.
I have a feeling that mitsu has cheap windshield because I've gotten couple of chips on my previous evo. So should I go for generic windshield or replace it with same glass from mitsu?

I got a chip on mine a few days ago. I just used some of the chip repair stuff from Kragen. Does not work too well but it is better then nothing.
Be glad yours fully broke, mine is chipped but not enough to replace the whole thing. It will be one of those flaws I will keep and remember and never fix!

About 3/4 cost less than the Evo's and It will last a heck of alot longer.
Fitmet is perfect.

A large *** rock cracked mine. Covered with no deductable under state farm. When it came to the install, the guy noticed that the new one didnt fit well. He reckoned it was a regular lancer one (it had the sunvisor strip at the top). They fitted a new evo one.
As for the evo one being lighter, if it is, it should be as strong. The windscreens have to be able to withstand the force of the passenger airbag being forced onto it, so they told me anyway

If it was as strong then they shouldn't be cracking as much as they do. I dunno.

I got a crack in my windshield and it took almost 2 months to get a new one. Mitsubishi is the only one who makes Evo windshields right now so if you want a genuine Evo windshield you'll have to wait for it. Or you can just get a regular Lancer one and have it in a day or so. If your insurance is paying for it, why not get the one that was designed for the car?
FWIW, my Evo windshield lasted over 60,000 miles before it got a chip in my line of sight.
