Permanent Fix for fading CF on Evo spoiler

I got a clear bra installed on my 06 Evo IX today. I was talkin to the guy doing the install about the material used and I asked him if it had UV protectant. He said it did so I started thinking about how alot of guys complain that the CF on their spoilers started fading in spots over time so I asked him what he thought. Anyway to make a long story short I am suppose to go over to his shop next weekend and he's gonna use my spoiler to make the measurements to cut a clear bra to put over the top exposed CF part of the Evo Spoiler. He said it will protect from UV so no more fade spots.

Anyway how many guys would be interested in getting this for their Evos? I told him I would ask to see where the interest is at. He said it would be easy to make the piece needed to put on the spoiler and you wouldn't even know it was there because he will wrap it at the bottom of the CF piece. Anyway let me know if you guys are interested.

I don't think it would be that expensive either. This guy did my hood (extended) bumper, headlights and mirrors for $420 installed. And he did it in my garage! Good guy. Great price. I can post some pics if you guys wanna see the process.

The spots the were supposedly fading were not really fading it was the C/f separting from the wing. At least that is what they told my wife cause she had the same thing happen to her and she had it replaced under warranty. They thought it was fading to but they did a little more research on it and found that the c/f was seperating from the clear coat.

So if you want to clear coat it then go ahead...but if your wing starts to fade it should be replaceable under warranty.

Mine is back in the early stages of fading in the wing again.

If it's fading, just keep wax on it and it won't do that. I've kept wax on my wing for the past 3 years with no problems.

You also need to think to that the EVO 9 wing is different than the EVO 8 wing. It may be already fixed. I will have to say though....that EVO 9 wing sure feels VERY fragile.

I waxed the heck out of the wing on my 03 Evo and it still had fade spots. Im gonna give this clear bra stuff a try and see if it helps. You are right about the 9 wing feeling fragile. Almost like it fake or something compared to the solid feel my 03 had.

This would be a great alternative for some of us that transplanted our OZ spoilers for the Evos. We can't get warranty coverage, and the only other alternative is the scrape and recoat method. Wish this add been thought of a while back when my wing was in perfect shape...
