downpipe rattle..
I finally had time to check out what was making the rattling noise under my car, it was my helix v2 downpipe. It was rubbing, not on underneath the oilpan and not on the 2 braces, but beside a black piece under the car ( I dont know what ya call it) Anyway, I was trying to mess with the exhaust hangers because I noticed that the hangers were a bit short and it made the downpipe touch the black piece above the exhaust hangers. Will getting new exhaust hangers fix this problem? Because I need some that are a little bit longer than the stock ones so it my downpipe wont rub and not to long that my downpipe will hang down to the braces. Can somebody help me out please? By the way, how the heck do you get those darn hangers off, they are a pain in the *** trying to get off 8- x

hmm, I know few people that have the same exact dp on their 03 and 04's and they haven't had problems, but then again I know a few that do have problems. I guess its luck if it fits or not lol 8- X Anyway what downpipe would ya recommend? I might be purchasing one sooner or later if this is an issue and sell this one.

It's hitting your crossmember. That's what that piece is called. My HKS DP did the same thing. I managed to "pursuade" it down a little by bending the hangers a tick with a small hammer and making sure it was centered up on the cat.

If it design to work with the ACD, it will work. The problem lies with the two spring bolts tighten too tight and not torqued to specs. Plus the oem cross bars shouldn't be use if you are using a 3" downpipe. Try an aftermarket one, like the RMR cross bars. That my personal opinion and from experience. Another problem lies with the use of two foulers as your cel-fix, the 02 will rub against the body and cause vibrations even if it looks like it will no touch when you installed it. The movement of the engine will also move your exhaust system causing it to touch but its a minor problem.

Yes, I gently convinced them they wanted to fit. You have to be somewhat gentle though. Don't go get a sledgehammer and start wailing on it or you could rip the pipe at the weld.
Is it a large structural loking piece of metal or the flimsy piece of crap heatshiled that runs parallel to the exhaust?

nah not that heatshield looking piece, its main black piece right above the exhaust hangers. And yes this is the v2 helix dp, Im going to try to lengthen the hangers somehow, maybe get some metal extensions this guy recommended me I should try.

Well.. didnt get a chance to lengthen it yet, but has anybody here used heatwrap on their helix downpipes, and did it make the noise go away? I was recommended that I should use some heatwrap around the downpipe and it should help cause the fit would be really tight and wouldnt make my downpipe move... The exhaust shops around here suck so I am not going to get my downpipe heated/fabricated cause I dont trust them with their work so I thought id try the heatwrap..

I too have the same problem with the Helix DP. I bought it used and the person assured me that it was version 2. When I take off from a stop in first gear, or going low speed in high gear, the rattle sounds like the rumble from a V8 muscle car. I ordered some DEI exhaust wrap from summitracing and it just arrived tonight. I'll try to get them up this weekend if it doesn't rain and I'll let you know how it goes.
