06ix shifting question
I just picked up my brand new 06 ix on saturday and now have about 300 miles on it.
My question for you all is..
When shifting into 2nd or 3rd, but mostly 3rd, at a normal pace, sometimes it sound like the synchros are biting and its clunking or noisier than other shifts. its a tough noise to explain. Its usally when i short shift, maybe 2500-3200 rpm. If i shift faster, or even more slowly, or at a higher rpm, its fine.
should there be any gear noise at all. Do i need to start with a dealer, or is the transmission generally very notchy and noisy. Its not rough at all and is just audible.
Thanks
-Matt
ps. i love this car so far, even if I cant go past 5000rpm for a few hundred more miles.

My 05 has been doing that since day one. I now have 6500 miles on it and have almost eliminated it completely by changing tranny fluid to Pennzoil Synchromesh, changing the underhood shifter bushings, changed front motor mount. Good luck

sweet. thanks for the reassurance. It just feels like typical grinding, but there dont seem to be any adverse effects or the feeling that something is wrong, just really tightness or newness. cool
love the car by the way.

ive noticed this on my IX as well. seems to be going away slowly but surely. I also wondered if it was just a break in period type thing but I plan on changing the fluid at about 10k. im almost to 1500 miles and ill be doing my first oil change when i get around to that mileage. love this car so much. installed a set of aluminum shifter base bushings and they definately make the engagements cripser as compared to the stock rubber bushings with a metal sleeve. havent done the underhood bushings yet but I plan on doing them in the future

i think wrxrocks nailed it. Its shifting slow at LOW rpm. When you are shifting at 5000 or above, its fine.
will not worry about it, and do a fluid change in 10k or so.
