looked like the dude in the evo wasnt trying much, or he was too busy blowin his load to really unleash the evo's power, and it was basically a top speed thing so the rsx had that extra gear that is always nice. nice find by the way....

I find that a little hard to believe. Either that RSX had more than a few bolt ons or the EVO owner does not know how to drive.


My AWD 95 eclipse could take a light moded RSX-S on a big 16G and 17psi no FMIC and stock injectors from a 1st gear roll. Now I never went all the way to 150mph because by the mid of 4th gear I was 2 to 3 car a head.

Nice April Fools or something. THat was retarded. Not only did they not even come close to 150mph but they barely looked like they were going 50mph. It was painfully obvious this is rigged. Look at the street and other signs going by. THey're in slow motion. No way in hell that was over 80mph. Plus the car was very quiet. My car at that speed or rev range is screamin. Pathetic.

It's so very possible. First, with those mods, the RSX-S probably dynos ~200whp. The Evo has more power, but weighs ~400lbs more. Plus in the original linked post, the he says the Evo has two passengers in the car. Add in the two passengers and your looking at an Evo weighing ~700lbs more than the RSX-S. All that weight negates any HP advantage the Evo may have had. No controversy here that I can see.

 

Nothing to do with power. Watch the video again and open your eyes. It's obvious how fast they "aren't" going by the objects passing them and the dividers on the street. Whether or not the RSX won is besides the point now. There's no way those cars were going over 100mph in that video let alone 150! Now that you're watching the video "listen" at the tone of the car.

I have beat so many cars that had a LOT more hp than I did because of driver skill!!!!

Driver skill is a huge % of racing.

 

I just watched it again. Still looks real. I've made videos of going way over 100mph and they always look slower in the video than being there. I have in car video of lap events at the track and they always look much slower than in the car also.

Plus you can see the speedo and tach in one part, and there's a part where they just pull from a pickup truck like it's standing still. Plus from what I read on the forum here, the Evo doesn't have as much steam on the upper end as it does in the middle. It doesn't take anything away from the Evo if the vid is real or not. The guy was having fun with his friends and isn't claiming that the RSX is a better car. Just that the RSX is geared well for high end and the the Evo had more people in the car.

 

guys, I hate to say this but if you look at the video more closely, you'll see that the Speed is around 142MPH with a 6200RPM. looks like we need that 6th gear.

 

I dunno I still don't buy it. For one if they were doing 150+ that truck they passed by would've been doing at least 120. I know how fast it looks to be going 150 on the freeway even on film and the lines and carpool symbol don't pass by that slow. The biggest thing is that truck they pass. At 150mph they would've blown by that thing which it didn't look like to me. The fact this is released on April 1st brings even less merit to it. Sorry but go sell crazy elsewhere we're all stocked up here.

 

Hahahh that video was utter crap... I don't think an RSX can beat an Evo if god was driving it and it had a V8 dropped in it...
