- tap into the tach line with an osciliscope to see what it looks like.
- if it's just pulses, I can run it straight into a counter (depending on the voltage level).
- if not, then run it through an ADC.
- from that, I can determine the rpm.
- I could use a pot to adjust the rpm the light flashes at, or I could permanently program a value.
- making an LED flash is easy.
It'll take me a month to find the spare time though.

Autometer makes a real nice one ... I use to have it in my old car ....

Take Your Pick:
BTW Shiftlights are not RICE ... only if you have one for no real reason ... but if you race then thats all that counts.

scroll down slightly...look at the bottom of the page and click on the T-Sport icon at the bottom of the page.
they have them here for $79.00
they also have a pic of an EVO dash with it installed. scroll down...
check out the launch control also. the video is pretty good.

I am currently looking for a shift light. Just a simple shift light, nothing more. Most of the shift lights I've seen are a part of something else, like a tach or a knock light or something.
this is for a completely stock evo ix that wants to get onto the track. I can tell, she really really wants to, very badly. She'd also prefer her owner not blow up her motor.
The only thing I've found is the Sparco shift light.

If anyone has one, uses one, do you like it?
And I have searched all over this board using the terms "shift light" "tach light" "rpm light" "rev light"

it might come handy in auto-x as well as drag racing.
auto-x, some of the course, you're focusing so hard on the course that you sometimes don't have time to look down at the tach and this will help on shifting.

I guess I could purchase the Rev-Lite unit and just solder some extension wires to the LED's so I could put them where I wanted.. But it'd be cheaper to build my own, I just need to know what to get.

For everyone else:
I emailed Tekniqauto.com and they responded overnight... actually within a few hours...
They don't stock the Rev-Lite anymore. I don't think anyone does.. Any places I've managed to find links for an online store all are broken or dead or give code errors... Kaz from Tekniq said they will have a replacement product shortly. In the meantime I'll be looking forward to this little electronic project Lancer7 is creating.
