Just a simple shift light

Hello,

I didn't know where to put this (tuning forum or racing)

I am currently looking for a shift light. Just a simple shift light, nothing more. Most of the shift lights I've seen are a part of something else, like a tach or a knock light or something.

this is for a completely stock evo ix that wants to get onto the track. I can tell, she really really wants to, very badly. She'd also prefer her owner not blow up her motor.

The only thing I've found is the Sparco shift light.

If anyone has one, uses one, do you like it?

And I have searched all over this board using the terms "shift light" "tach light" "rpm light" "rev light"

I use this:

http://www.raptorperformance.com/

It's a self contained unit and seems to work OK. I've only had it for a couple of weeks now so I can't speak on reliability. I had to play around with the settings a lot to get it just right. The settings aren't exact. For example, I have it set to like 5100 rpm which equals 6500 on my tach. lots of trial and error to initially set it up.

A mustang buddy of mine has his raptor installed in his A/C vent, very stealthy and works well.

I'm very interested in this, could you do a write up on the install? Especially the wiring hook up.

OMG

That price is rediculous. I can build my own for about $6-$15 depending on what microcontroller I use.

Shift lights = Rice, unless they are tiny and barely noticable.

I don't have one, but I think that if you actually use it for racing (driving a 16 second car down the 1/4 mile is not racing) I wouldn't consider it rice even if it is huge. JMO
