When i first recieved the IX flash equipment I went to Buschur's shop for 3 days when all I did was tune the same car for 12 hours a day to develop base MIVEC and fuel and timing maps for the BR 350 and BR 330 cars. This was in January
When I went back in February I spent an additional two days refining those maps further after my field work with the maps here in CT and on the road
That = 5 days at Buschur
I will be back there again in March if you want to keep track or if you want a tuning appointment
BTW - just to add I have been also tuning the Ecutek version of flashing for both the 8 and the IX all throughout the same time frame as well

I live in Southern Cali, and i've actually heard alot of bad things about dynoflash... ALOT of bad things. Most people out here call it dynoflush. But if it is just the mail in flash, it might not be that different. But when it comes to dynoflash's tuning, ive heard alot of pretty bad things.
Al tuned my car and it ran great when there were only a few basic mods. I went from Al's tune to an Ecutek tune from Mynes after adding more performance parts and I must say that the EcuTek is pretty slick while tuning on a dyno. If you plan on continuing with more mods, then the EcuTek might be nice now because you only have to pay the licensing fee once and you could get that out of the way now.
In your case, you don't have a lot of mods right now. IMO I see no reason why you'd "need" anything more than just the base mail in flash for $300. That's a hellava price. Once you really start to mod the car, then look at some better engine management.
I also know Shiv does some great work and I'm very impressed with the XEDE. Both Al & Shiv spend a considerable amount of time perfecting their craft. My new IX is stock right now, but I do plan on eventually going with the XEDE & its alch/meth/h20 management.

People are stating that after the initial cost of the Ecutek license, it's cheaper. That's not really true.
No matter what you've got, if you add parts and need a custom tune, dyno time is gonna cost you. Different vendors have different rates, and some have discounts for returning customers, but I doubt any follow-ups are free.
Now, the Ecutek might be faster to retune down the road, causing retunes/upgrades to have less dynotime - and cost less, but I dunno that much about it. Just my 02.
