Question though: Aren't you the guys that were making out of state buyers pay CA sales tax? Then they'd have to turn around and pay tax again in the state they were registering the car in? If that's the case, then this really isnt much of a deal unless you register the car in cali....
Yes the prices are unbeleivable and the service is even more unbeleivable.

And thats a good question however, I dont think they will make yo pay sales tax if it is a out of state registry. You will just have to pay your own states taxes.

Hi To all,

As far as sales tax goes......If you are planning to drive the car back home to your own state you will have to pay California State Tax and thats CA LAW, Now if you are going to ship the car to an autorized shipping company you wont have to pay CA sales TAX.....

Its just California Law....

^^^ So there you go guys.. double tax + plane ticket + lodging/gas makes this deal not so great to out of state buyers if you're planning on picking it up.

What do you mean by "authorized" shipping company? Authorized by your dealership? Can someone drive a flatbed/trailer/etc. out there and load it up?

There is no double tax. You pay the tax in the state where you register the vehicle.

Dude, why would you go out there if you are going to have them ship the car to you anyways? Thats just stupidity so there wouldnt be any lodging, plane ticket, etc etc. All you do is look on the net pick one out and wallah! You have an evo for below invoice and you pay one sales tax.

Its just California Law....

Is this a new law ?

When I got my last car (in 2002) I purchased it in Newport Beach, CA and registered it in my home state and I didn't pay CA tax. (I did pay tax in my home state, of course)

lol good one like that...lol

There is no such thing as double Tax you will only pay sales tax one time.....and we dont make any money on that sales tax if you want you can call the DMV her in california or you can call the State Board of Equalization and they will tell you exact same thing that if you want to drive the car home you will have to pay CA sales tax....

If you want to ship the car you will have to pay a shipping company and deal with them directly and you dont even need to come down to the dealership we will just ship the papperworks to you and it will come with a come back overnight enveloped you wont even have to pay for sending the paperworks back...

I wouldn't complain about the plane + lodging + gas to get a IX less for that kind of a deal. I live in IL and am considering it. Make a road trip out of it. Fly in to LA, do some cool stuff, buy your Evo IX MR, go through some national parks with your honey, do some stuff that you normally wouldn't do, and by the time you get home, your car is broken in.

Sounds like a deal to me

This is from post that i did before and its been a topic already just want to repost them.....

First of all i dont think our DMV and TAX lady is wrong coz i double check my self by calling the CALIFORNIA STATE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION there number is 714-558-4059 or 1-800-400-7115 its the CA STATE LAW guys...

If you take the delivery of the car from the dealership and planning to drive the car you will have to pay for CA TAX..

If you have a shipping company that will pick up the truck from the dealer then you wont have to pay the sales tax here in CA....

Check it yourself..

Thank You

+1 for south coast mitsu, Mike treated me well, I bought mine on superbowl sunday it the transaction was like going to the store for a pack of gum, quick and easy. You really can't beat their price, it's worth the trip, besides, the drive home can break your car in ready for full throttle when you get home.
