I do not think that the S3 is in the same class as the Evo, but the hp numbers are increasing almost per year.
Wake up Mitsu. Time to BIG HP increase!

It's not all about power. Audi's, while quick have always been very nose heavy. The Evo is all about balance and has it in spades. Don't believe me, check out the lastest issue of EVO magazine (UK addition) where they test an FQ-340 (our car with a mild tune) against and 911 Carrera 4S (370hp) and the all new 414 hp RS4. The Evo beat the Carrera around the 1.8 mile road course by a full second and the the RS4 by a full 4 seconds per lap!
Balance babe!!!
By the way, Mitsu. has always underated the HP on the Evo. 286hp? HA!

Who cares about peak numbers unless you just want to win the pointless my X is bigger than yours conversations.
And as stated earlier, weight & balance in addition to the area under the curve is what matters most. I'll buy a car with 10% less peak and 10% more area under the curve anyday over a car with 10% less area and 10% higher peak numbers assuming all else is equal.
But obviusly I would not complain at all if power is bumped up.

I wonder how they got 70hp more when that is the same engine used in their 2.0T A3 and it is the same engine that is in the GTI.. hmm i wonder whats different in that s3. and its gonna be over 35k for sure so i dont c the point of buying that if it has the same engine as the GTI, might as well get the gti for 24k then and chip that **** and u will be around the same hp, which is a better buy...

Bah, audi's are always too heavy and awkard around turns. The EVO is awesome because of its handling ability, aftermarket support, tunability (stock block can take 500 HP+!), and value. Saying that mitsubishi needs to "up the horse power" is ludicrous. Why don't you get up off the couch and up your horsepower yourself?!

Are you crazy or what? ? ?
Every auto maker is improving both the handling and power and in a new future depending on the research and development they will build a better car than the EVO.
The Evo has an awesome handling but the 280hp stock is not enough, this is why we are puting a good amount of cash to improve the hp.
Which do you prefer a 30k car with 280hp or a 30k car with 380hp?

I said that because increasing the horsepower on a 4g63 is both cheap and reliable.
When you think about it, when you increase the horsepower you are decreasing the buyer market because of the increase in price, and decrease in gas mileage. High horsepower cars belong to a niche market as is, so I can't imagine more and more cars coming out with increased horsepower, especially considering the trend of oil prices and the american economy in general.
