On our evo's we have 2 fuse boxes, the big square one and the skinny long one right next to it. Well to make your evo's somewhat theftproof , hoping they dont have a tow truck ,you can take out the fuse located in the long skinny fuse box in the engine bay, this will allow the car to have power so the theif wont think the battery is dead , it acts like a starter immobilzer , it wont allow the vehicle to crank over , confusing the theif making him think indeed you do have a custom immobilzer. Ill try and post some pics of where to remove the fuse
sounds good

What if the Car Thief Knows "Evo", which many do if they are trying to hot wire an Evo...They see you pop the Hood, Open the Fuse Box...What then? They already know that you have taken a fuse out right there in front of everyone...or know you did something...

honda people have been doing this for a while now........i use to do it w/ my integra but kept losing the damn fuses. lol actually even if you pull the fuse (im assuming the starter or ignition) you can still easily hot-wire the car. my friend had a compustar alarm installed in his evo and i guess he got a bad one cause it failed....... i had the bottom panel taken out, stripped and started in 3 minutes. wires are sadly easy to get to in our cars.

Well if you pop your hood and make it obvious then yes they might see, thats why you act like your checking coolant lines etc.. And as far as sombody hotwiring the vehicle good luck , i dont know any starter that can work without its power fuse

it's the 30v motor fuse that you want to take out. I used to do this all the time with my gsx. The evo already has the immobilizer, so you really don't need to do this. lol just carry some extra motor fuse just in case you misplace the one your carrying around. If you take the fuse out, sometimes you'll forget to put it back in and try to start the car thinking wtf just happened. Happened to me a couple of times

I can defeat 90% of steering locks in less than a minute and I'm no car thief. The only one that would stump me would be the circular one that covers the entire wheel but that's just a cumbersome piece of metal to have rolling around in your car when driving. The only real purpose of car alarms and theft deterrants such as steering locks is to deter the casual thief and lower your insurance slightly.

good info. i'm not sure how much faith i have in the factory immobilizer, can it be bypassed by a competent thief?

take the fuse out.

then take a two inch wire with the ends exposed, and push them down into where the fuse went.

they'll be able to get where they need to go long enough to replace that fuse.

if they want it, they will get it, unfortunately.

nice thought though
