Evo IX MR vs. Evo IX: Is the MR worth it?

I tried searching for a long time, but terms like IX and MR don't fly. I even tried the wild-card asterisk method...

I have heard from a few that the MR is just a IX with a few gimmicks. Do you guys think the extra gear is worth the money? What are the differences in performance and convenience of the 5-speed and 6-speed transmissions?

What are the other differences between the MR and IX besides the tranny, vortex generators, aluminum parts, suspension and wheels?

I'd swap out the suspension right away so that's not a factor for me.

Any comments between the two would be great!

TIA

I have a 9 MR, but if you are swapping lots of things out I would just save the cash and get a base 9 or a 9 RS, the aluminum roof is the only cool thing, otherwise the rest of it is "ehhhh". I have an Evo 8 that I use for the track and I bought the MR to keep it stock.

Can you comment on the day-to-day differences of the 5-speed vs. the 6-speed and is the interior between the IX and the IX MR different?

whats so hard about it, you want the bbs rim and 6 gears , if so, MR, if not, regular IX.
I want the leather seat and sunroof, so i got IX/SSL.

For me, I'd just get the MR if i had the money, even though it is only about a g difference from what i have.. but yea, MR just make it a little more speical... i hate those fockers asking me if my car is an MR...

IIRC the gearing has changed, but I personally prefer the 5 speed over the 6 for track junk, less shifting = better than, as they say . If you are doing lots of highway driving the 6th gear is nice to keep it a bit more out of boost (and save some gas), the ride is overall a bit smoother. I didn't like it at first since I had not used a 6 speed for a while, but now it is growing on me. I would hate it on the track, though. The first 4 gears are about the same as the 5 speed, so there isn't much difference there. The IX MR has a nicer shift knob and some badges/floor mats, but it is largely the same as the base IX.

Who said anything about personal worth? I wanted to gather opinions on whether OTHERS thought it was worth it or not? You can sure provide me with YOUR opinion on the MR's worth, no?

[Meanwhile, I's saving one spot for Happy Madison on my Ignore List.]
