keep us updated b/c i have the same problem...
Its not a grind rather I feel like there is some resistance on the 2-3 upshift not 4-3 or 5-3. I am going to change fluid and see if it makes a difference.

I have the same problem! The 3rd gear grind is very slight at low speeds. Its also moody...some times it slightly grinds, and other times its smooth like the rest of my shifts. The problem im having is the fact that I may have to haggle with my local dealer, and id have to take a few things I have off that where just installed. The other reason is the clutch is still good and id rather just fix them when i have the tranny open.

I have the same issue with just 3rd but it doesn't sound or feel like the tranny is grinding, it just feels like there is some resistance or rubbing in the shifter base. Like a grind you would feel vibrate through the whole shifter but this feels like its coming from just the base of the shifter???

I have the same prob with an 03, its a performance car ****s gunna grind, even 200K+ ferrari's and porche's grind, its sycro's and if your lucky or you slip the service manager a c-note they will never fix it till its broken...........just change your fluids every 5000 miles.........................my cars been in service for 2wks now , bone stock, oil leaks either valve probs or piston rings...........last month they just rebuilt some guys 04evo bottom end under waranty...................i guess the point of this storry is that mitsu service is ther to **** with you

OUCH! That sucks man... Yeah I just go real easy on the 1-2 shift. I have 46k on mine now and only changed the fluids at 30k. The tranny won't break in until almost 10k miles, at least mine didn't. It's a pleasure to shift now, except for that MF'n 1st - 2nd.
