You are right.. an EVO 8/9 is an EVO.. so making it go fast shouldn't be too much of a concern.. the 8 owners may have to put in a little bit more money.. but the 9 owners already did when they purchased their 9s..

New evo X will be out this Fall 06' not Next year... I hear over MSRP is 35 to 40 grand..... blah no more 4G63 and will have option Paddle shift or maual hand shift or AUTOMATIC!@&!@(*( blah! IX is Last Gen of Evolution I to IX with 4G63

where do u have proof that the car will be out this fall? when mitsubishi hasn t shown a final version of the car yet in japan, not even final specs. If u have proof please provide it. I ll stick to what mitsubishi has ben telling every body in all the main car show around the world and that the car will be coming out in 2007 as a 2008 model.

I am sorry i loved my 2005 evo 8, had it for exactly a year, but power wise the evo 9 is superior period, and i dont feel bad about spending the money, to me it was worth it.
I have been going faster in the 1/4 with my IX than my VIII, with less mod
I think some of u guys are in denial. Anyways I love all the evo's I thru IX, but u cant be one sided because of the car you own, respect has to given where it s due.
One more thing, u say u pity the guy that traded it evo 8 for a 9, when there are plenty of people here who have traded their 03 evo 8 for a 05 evo 8 because of the perfromance difference
So please stop hating, we all have evo's we all have fun cars, so stop talking smack about evo 9 all u are accomplishing is showing how jealous you are.

90% of the power increase of the IX's over the VIII's is the new turbo, the MIVEC is basically helping with low-midrange power and faster spool, also with the use of MIVEC tuners are able to manipulate timing electronically through a flash. My way of looking at MIVEC is like an adjustable aftermarket intake cam gear on an VIII. Take a Evo IX turbo and adjustable cam gears and put them on an VIII and im sure the power will be the same or very very close!!!!!!!!!!

There is nothing in the real world that says once you change out turbos on both cars that the IX continues to have a 30awhp advantage over the 8. Secondly, it has been proven over and over that the 9 ONLY has 30awhp more than the 8 (in both stock and mod for mod). If you think 30awhp is justifyable for spending at least $5k more on a 9 then admit that money isn't an issue for you. Some of the more economical owners here feel this is unjustifyable. If I had $5k to spend and you had $5k to spend.. You SPENT yours by buying a stock 9. I would still have an 8 with $5k in mods to blow. In order for your car to match or exceed mine, you'd have to spend MORE than the $5k. That's the point!
In any case, the 9 only has an advantage with simple bolt-ons. Once either car goes standalone, bigger turbo, or 2.3L stroker.. the 9 and 8 become equal..period.

like u said if money doesnt matter, it s whoever has the most money and the best tune that will have the faster car.
So the final point here is, if u got the moeny go ahead buy a new 9, if u dont just keep your 8 and tune with the money u got. Simple as that, i wasn t posting here to do a **** contest. I am just tired of seeing people saying if i do this and that i ll beat an evo 9, while the guy with an evo 9 could do the same thing and you couldnt beat it but just hang with it. The faster car will always be the one with the best tune with the best part, and the best driver.
