difference between VIII and IX

everytime i see an dyno chart of an IX and the power it makes..it hurts.. i still don't get why such a big difference.. the two thing i know is different are they TURBO and MIVEC but does MIVEC really increase power?

if i upgrade my VIII turbo to an IX.. would i be making the same power? i know its a dumb question

With the money you put into upgrading your turbo you might as well trade the whole car in for a IX

yeh a evo IX will help, but what makes the power difference is that the the turbo and MIVEC work great together.

Despite what some people may tell you, I'm more inclined to believe it's the MIVEC that makes the most difference. The turbo probably contributes some, but not 30awhp more.

If you want to pay $5,000 for 30awhp then by all means buy a IX. When the X's come out this fall, the IX owners will feel outdated too..

Basically the more money one has to spend on the car - the faster it will go..

Why? I could put $5k into an upgraded turbo on an 8 and blow any stock turbo'd 9 away.

Then that would be me shelling out $10k! The point is.. buying a IX now (if one already owns an 8) will cost more money. That money could be spent instead on upgrading the 8. If you have a certain amount of money to spend.. why spend it on getting a IX with less power? It's not economically feasible in my opinion.

The fastest EVO in the U.S. is still an 8.

Yes, it will. And the X will have more power than the 9. Different gearing, AYC, and an aluminum block.

Exactly the money you lose selling ur 8 for a 9 is just stupid. Point is u can get any evo into the 10s and the 11s. For a daily or weekend driver and not a car just 4 racing what more do you want. Not much will touch a decently modded EVO 8 or 9 on the street.

uh what kind of reasoning is that?
i make payment for my car and i am modding it at the same time, if u have the $ to buy an evo u should have the $ to mod it right away as well if u are making enough money working.

Only because the tuning upgrades for the IX are not finished being developed and completely tested.

IIRC, it took a long time before many upgrades for the 8 were released.

The X is an 07' car.. probably won't come out till middle of next year.

Its not going to be shown off until fall of 07. I doubt it will even be stateside by then.
