$500 to blow

I've had my evo for about six months now and all I have done to it is a boost gauge, boost controller, new head unit and a drop-in K&N filter. I have about $500 to spend on doing something new to the car and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for the best bang-for-the-buck modifications. At the moment I'm thinking a cat-back exhaust. also I did do a search but didnt really come up with anything helpful in this area. Thanks

I'm sure you would get plenty from an actual search, but anyway, do this:

- Cat-back = $300
- Walbro fuel pump = $85
- Mail-in Dynoflash = $200

Can you swing $585? If so, you'll have some great gains with only $500, and your car will be safe.

strippers! VIP room. way better than spending money on your Evo.

if not, i'll buy a wideband for $300. $200 for egt gauge.

then you could buy everything you need and still monitor it.

i only spent about $500 on my evo and it was a lot of fun
$85 walbro fuel pump
$200 mail in flash, i did a turbo trix mail-in
$55 hallman boost controller
$75 used downpipe, i had a megan down pipe
$65 used high flow cat, i had a 3" rnr

comes out to about $480. Not sure if ur alright with buying used stuff, but i didnt have a problem with any of my stuff. I didnt do an exhaust because i didnt want the noise and was already getting harassed by authorities with my stock exhaust.
You can get a lot more then u think for $500!

+1......... but if you cant spend 585 then i would drop the cat-back and go with AMS LICP for 225 ... that only comes out to 510. good luck

EDIT: maybe a 10.5 hotside also.

Please PM me and explain Warrtalon. I know your name and respect it here. What don't I know? And please list the issues you had with my post. You can do it right here in-thread if you'd care to.

From what ive read elsewhere, a fuelpump is just an insurance policy. For 85 bucks Its worth it not to have to worry about it. Theres another thread around here with nasty pics of a blown engine, near the end many people agreed that a fuel pump (although not the cause of his problem) may have aided in preventing some of the issues that caused it.

That's news to me - so be it. Sure it wasn't a weak pump? Mine's upgraded, but that was enroute to cams and turbo. I've never seen it on a newbie/first mods list... *Shrug*

Thanks for letting me know.

some tuners run the car filthy rich, that's probably where that came from.

but more whp, you need more fuel, since more air comes in due to more psi that your turbo pumps in the engine.

if you stay with stock boost, you'll be ok with stock fuel pump, but it's always good to upgrade.
