If you dumped the clutch you shouldn't get a burned clutch smell.

I went about 50k miles, with over 40 hard launches.

Something to remember:
Dumping the clutch saves your clutch
Slipping the clutch saves your drivetrain

i did my first launch the other day too, it didn't smell like burnt clutch though. just a small chirp from the front tires (im on winter tires still with a bit of sand on the road) and off. whether it was right or fast or whatever, who knows, but it sure was fun i don't plan on doing it very much though, clutches and other driveline parts are too expensive

Not really.. Dumping the clutch in short terms = Less wear on the clutch but more wear on the tcase and stuff.
Slipping the clutch = Less wear on tcase but more wear on clutch. Id personally rather replace the clutch then a Tcase.. And if you get good enough at slipping it, you will hardly ever smell the clutch.
