At the time it was the only car that came in graphite gray. Also I love the rims/ vortex generators/ suspension is MUCH MUCH nicer and less bumpy. This is my daily driver so the less bumpy the better on my back. plus if I was going to spend 30k+ on my next car i had a prerequisite of the car having HID and I didn't want the SSL package. The MR was perfect for me. plus 6-speed is way nicer to shift on this car. Ask anyone whos driven one

actually the MR is worth the extra 4k over the GSR and this is why

the MR has the aluminum roof and you dont have to add the lame leather, sunroof package to get HID's

leather sucks, you slide around and its hot and cold with the weather.
sunroof is nice but takes away from the cars rigidity

the MR has a 6 speed with nicer shiftknob and floor mats and overall interior

the MR is faster in the 1/4 mile than the GSR is stock.

the MR handles better, has a better ride

the MR has the new zero lift piece under the front air dam and a duckbill piece on the rear spoiler, plus the vortex generator, all for more downforce and stability.

the MR has much nicer and lighter wheels
the MR is rare, and different from the other evos and sets itself apart

must i continue?

I do not believe the MR handles any better than the regular GSR. 1) its heavier 2) softer shocks mean more weight transition even if grip is the same. However, there are situations such as rough roads or dirt/snow, where softer dampeners are better at car control.

My cell phone has 512 MB MP3 storage and a automute function when a call comes in

u can reach 60 in 2nd gear with the 6speed in the mr
and after owing a 2005 5 speed evo 8, i can tell u the 6 speed is better suited for road racing. the 6 speed in the other hand is not quite practical for drag racing.

suspension - most situations epsecially on th street favor the softer dampers / plus its a more comfortable ride

the deal breaker for me was really the extras i wanted on the GSR would put me damn close to the MR in price.
HIDs + Underbody Aero + Break ducts + Vortext Generator + wicker bill

Having owned an 03 VIII trading to an IX MR plus packaging options bring them too close in price. The suttle upgrades make the IX MR a bit more refined. Can't speak for VIII MR,because I never drove one but knowing the shared components is worth everybit, suspension, gearbox and of course personal preferance GG.It's about the complete package...

Yeah... it is. The 6 speed makes up for any losses from the AL roof.

edit: atleast the 8's were, I don't know about the 9's

I got mine GG VIII MR because of the 6 speed, and nicer ride. Limited edition color, AL roof didn't hurt either.

Actually it was because of the vortex generator... j/k
