Awesome...dosen't suprise me.Everytime that car passed me (on the sidelines) It would shift and let out a damn Sonic Boom it felt like.
Was super fast on day 1 breaking in the tires.
Nitto NT-01 - Rober F/Robi Spec in the unlimited car 145.xxx
left beofre Robi's car was just getting there looking for a wrench.
Leh in the GSC was only .2 off the pace of the AMS car in practice with a great shot at the win, however retired due to a mechanical failure

Cliff made great gians all weekend, started out struggling a bit, but after learning the track, and getting used to the car, really poured it on to put in a great lap.
The reasons the AMS #17 street car looked so fast was, it is decently sorted, and b) The driver. (probably not in that order) Mark was incredible to have as a co-driver, I really look forward to working with him in the future, awesome experience.
On a good run, I have run a bone stock Evo (2003) to a 1:53.8 at CMP, in the hotter conditions today a bone stock 03 would have been able to run mid 1:55s I think (greasy/hot street tires would have fallen off a bit) The SCCA T1 record is a 1:46.1, we really are moving these cars around there. (Leh ran a 1:45.8 in practice, so despite the "official" results, he was there as well.
I want to give a big thumbs up to Robi, who drove 2500 from California with two cars to fight with people on their own playground, He had some issues that held him back a bit, but it was good to compete against him again, and I look forward to more battles in the future.
The whole GSC crew worked hard as hell, when you throw this much HP at these cars, and then go drive it like a racecar there are teething problems, AMS and I have fought them, and it was GSC's turn this weekend. They never gave up, thrashing on the car till the very end, and the final results, mainly not being listed, is not indicative of how hard those guys worked.
To the AMS crew, you guys rock, All of the boys "back at the shop" and Eric, Mark, Justin, Martin, and Arne who came out are a great bunch to have, they bust their asses, and it showed this weekend, other than minor adjustments for handling, we didn't have to touch the car. I love driving the AMS Evo, and having those guys back me up.
To Ali, Charles, and all the people that made it work, a big thanks. You guys are a great bunch to work with, and it was great being able to participate in the event. I am very proud of the trophy, and love that it says "In Memory of Mark Modaressi" on it. I never got to meet or talk with Mark, and after being involved in the event with friends of his, I really am sad I missed the chance to meet him.
Thanks again to everyone, I am really looking forward to next year, and future events.

Here's a pic to jog your memory...I was actually the one taking the picture.
I was really impressed with the AMS street class car though. That thing was surprisingly fast and consistent...do you mind sharing the specs on that car?...turbo, cams, etc.

It was great meeting you as well, and was fun having you guys come cheer us on, it was a blast having people out watching and taking pictures.
I don't know the exact specs on the street car, turbo was a 3076, AEM standalone ECU, in the shootout portion they were running 19psi boost. (made sure to turn it down because some were wondering about the speed of the car, Mark ran a 1:45.55 in practice, with a map/boost level that was 390whp. That lap made him unofficially the 2nd fastest car of the weekend to the AMS unlimited car.
We turned the boost down and were probably at 370whp during the official timing. (that and a much hotter/greasier track produced the lap of "only" 1:47.0)

First of all I just wanted to say thanks to Ali and Charles and the entire Evom staff for setting up this event we had a great time and it was really good to meet all of you. Even though the rear windows are coming out of the car im glad you guys gave us the extra Mark M stickers. I think those will be a permanent part of our evo, he was a true enthusiast of the car and did a lot for our communit.
Big thanks to the AMS crew, I couldn’t even count the times I walked across the street to AMS and asked for parts or advice from the crew. Many thanks to Martin, Eric, Mark, and Justin. Congrates on the wins in both cars, they were very well sorted and ready to go! oh yeah guess we lost our little bet, so i am guessing we'll have to take you guys out at sema or atl next month. And I got to give you guys some major credit on the White Car. Driving all the way from Chicago to SC winning the street class then packing it back up and driving it 14 hours home is truly an amazing accomplishment you guys build some great cars and it truly shows. Have a safe trip home.
Jon thanks again to you, your father, and all the Seat-time crew you guys did a great job with the event and we truly appreciate it as always.
Robi I must say thanks for making the trip all the way from cali it was great that you came, and a real pleasure to meet you! I'm sure none of us will forget you taken out the corner marker at the kink! Who put that marker there any way..hehe have a safe trip home and next year we'll be making the trip to your playground.
and Most of all thanks to the GSC Crew, Kiley, Dennis, Mark, Brandon, Leh, Cory, Michelle, and LC(even though you wouldn’t let us rip apart your IX for parts) for giving it your best try.
This weekend seemed like the last 3 weeks times X10 we had a Vacuum line break off of the lower part of the wastegate giving us max boost of somewhere in the 37+psi range on the second lap of the first test session defiantly not good on a stock motor. We new our engine was then hurt especially when we checked the motor for compression and our number 3 cylinder was pretty much gone. We knew the motor was getting replaced so we were praying for it to stay together (which it was nice enough to do). Obviously down on power we figured we leave it up to Leh to try and pull a one lap wonder out of his hat but the GSC EVO decided it didn’t want to go around CMP anymore. From broken upper motor mounts to shifter cables, to balance shaft seals, when the car would make it out on track she developed a problem and wanted to come back to the pits. All I can say is the new motor will be getting all steel braided vacuum hoses, because I’m not going threw this weekend ever again.

here is the GSC car entering the kink on a warmup lap. I only have a few pics of the GSC unlimited car, Robis unlimited car, and Mark Daddio/ AMS street car which i will try to get up. We should have some great pics for our main covereage

Congrats to AMS as usual you had a great showing. Also to our driver Robert Fuller, you are a hard *** driving across country towing two cars to that event. Sorry I let you down by not taking our wide body EVO down there and my RS but you (Robert) know the reasons I refused to compete at this event. Maybe by next year my attitude will change and the bad taste of being banned from EVOm will be out of my memory.
To the GSC guys, guess it ain't so easy after all is it?

Robi was close to flat in the kink, but he cut down one of the poles to clear his way on purpose. Cory was close to flat, I think Marty Grand in the T2 car was flat.
Mark and I were both braking and downshifting, The bump on the inside was really upsetting our cars, (something we are working on) Mark was braking at about 125 or so, I think I was probably 140-145, but uh, not looking at the speedo. Mark could get through the apex at about 108-110, I would see 112-115 with the wider tires/lighter weight.
Could I have gone faster? Yea.. but the car was skittish there, and there just isn't enough lap time to be gained to risk the big off.
What is funny is I have run it at 120 or so in a Formula Continental, and it really is a non event, EP car, ITC/ITA cars, Showroom Stock, same thing. But of course those cars are only doing 110-115 or so going in.
The guy that does the track write up on the CMP site says "Turn 11, the kink, a non event" he is an atlantic driver, and he needs to add "for me a non event" to that write-up.

I wish the turnout had been better as far as spectators go...i enjoyed watching the racing very much, just wish i had a chance to meet more people and see more cars...still had a good time and glad the weather participated nicely!
