Dump the VIII for the Jeep SRT8?
Got a call from a salesguy saying his dealership just took delivery of a black Jeep SRT8. He knew I was interested and invited me to come drive it.
Being an impulsive fella I saddled up to take him up on the offer. I've been feeling a little aged to be driving the Evo and I figured this might be a good solution.
Bottom line: I wasn't impressed.
I have to admit it's a plush deal (very much like my wife's 300C) and has a great exhaust note. A serious rumble. Real touchy brakes, though.
It was decently quick but didn't take my breath away though w/ only 19 miles I didn't wanna flog it too hard. I hated the way it handled - boaty. Probably really good compared to other SUV's but a complete pig when you're used to an Evo.
It honestly didn't have the rear-seat legroom the Evo has (or it certainly wasn't any better) which is a reason I have this car in the first place. Also, I don't think I'd be crazy about 12 mpg, either.
I'd been on the fence re: upgrading my car. No more. I'll be ordering the Warrtalon/Buscher package first thing Monday morning.

I also drove the jeep and found the suspension lacking compared to the ss trailblazer (Which makes sense cause the ss was tested at the ring) that i had just driven, but unlike you i drove the **** out of that thing and must say that it is rather fast and feels like it makes most of its power up top. With that auto tranny that you could select gears by tapping the stick i found if you punched it in the wrong gear it just felt slow but if you got it right it was damn fast. The jeep is also faster then the grandfathers srt10

How much were they asking for the SRT-8? My wife and I just purchased a Trailblazer SS and the reason it was so much more attractive than the Jeep is we were able to get it with AWD out the door for $31K, where the Jeep seems to be in the mid $40K range!
I love the SS and even though it is alittle slower stock, with most people running mid-high 13's, you can get alot of mods for the LS2 for the $14K price difference. One recently ran a 12.6 with a tune, K&N filter, and torque converter and 12.1 with 50shot , not bad for a 4800lb SUV. Im lucky we needed a new car for my wife cause it meant I got to keep my Evo
