If you are talking about NYS, i dont think you will have a hard time. I have yet to see a AWD dyno at those insection shops. After reading those post I guess everythings changed.

I would like to be able to register it this yr in NY and then next year I will probably just register it in Florida for simplicity. It's a damn shame that I love my car because I am tempted to get rid of it for all the hassle....... NAAAA what was I thinkin! ;-)

To bad you dont live in a the state of Delaware where you can pay to have your car inspected and is good for 5 years . I think it in NJ you can up to 2 years.

my inspection is due soon in June or so..... I also have an AEM, and was wondering how I was gonna pass.... but anyway, my local shop has hooked me up and let me pass the last few years with all my modded cars. Hopefully the EVO wont cause a problem...

But since my car will hit its 1st b-day, I think its exempt from its first inspection...
Thats what happend last year with my SRT4.... they just gave me a new sticker.
With the EVO having to use that specific ECU can I just plug my ECU into another **stock** evo and then get the car inspected?

No you cannot do that the ecu have a signiture (vin). Here in PA if you travel less than 5000mi a year you do not need to do an emission test just an inspection.

Just to add to the thread, there is no possible way to pass NYS inspection unless you have the ecu that came with the car. Any car that is 96 and up does not do tailpipe dyno emissions anymore. All they do is plug in to your obd2 port and if no codes come up you pass, if codes do show up you fail. If there is no reading to the OBD2 port you fail. What they used to do back then when every car had to go through tailpipe emissions was to put another car on the dyno and then pass that way. Even if you were to get your hands on an inspection sticker, NYS registration only lasts two years and if the DMV does have see you passed inspection you wont be able to renew your registration.

That sucks....so the only way for me to pass is to convert back to MAF with the stock ECU???

/\ yes. I have looked into this as well, and the only way to pass is to have the stock ecu in, which means you could limp to the inspection station...and thats about it..
