Break in Q!

Just picked up my IX GSR tonight from South Coast Mitsu, awesome torque and plenty of boost to play around with, happy with car overall. Question, how do you guys break in ur IX? Any proper break-in procedure?

Drive it hard, you dont need any special break in procedures with 3 different oils types and changes.

There really are no special break in procedures. Most people will tell you to just drive it as hard as you want. But if you're really **** like I was just dont rev over 6000 rpms for teh first 1000 miles and remember to vary engine speeds on the highway

I was even more **** and didn't pass 3000 rpms for the first 250, then upped it 1000 rpms per 250 miles. So by the 1000 mile mark, I was hitting up to 6000 rpms. I'm at 1350 miles and I rarely have the need/space in front of me, to hit 7000 rpms

This is not good.

When breaking in the engine, you need to boost to seat the piston rings correctly.

Keep it below 5000RPMS, but make sure you boost.

Congrats! I heard you have to vary the rpms for the 1st thousand miles so the piston rings are set properly. I have also heard that the car should already broken in from the factory. My advice is to go easy on the first thousand miles. You want to take care of your precious baby.

Mine doesn't have 5k on it, and it's seen a few drag strip passes already
