Do Evo's have a 'black box'
#31
I believe these may be located in the module that controls air bag deployment so I don't know how easy they are to bypass without putting your airbag at risk. I do wonder if the information is recorded in the air bag module itself or if it's fed back to the ECU.

The thing is, a black box could save/clear your *** just as easily as it could convict you. If you are the guy going 50mph in your GT35r equipped space EVOship and get hit by a camry going 100mph with no witnesses beside you and the other driver, who do you think they'd assume was speeding? And who would then thank the geniuses behind these black boxes?

m3 has one... I remember ppl getting denied warranties when the 01's were blowing up, cause the dealers sent the ecu's to germany and reported that people revved too high. I dont really understand that, because what is the point in having fuel cut where it voids your warranty???? I think there were alot of issues with it though, and the chilled out though.

Went to get some warranty things covered and the service rep I was talking to was explaining to me that he could tell me exactly how my car was treated etc... so I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that we have one... at least mine does, its an '05 if it matters.
