Just for all you EVO IX haters out there.
Mivec is something to be jealous about and its ok, thats life. Post all your hate and your formum based knowledge. For people who do have the understanding what the advantages of a adjustable-on-fly cam system is about no explanation is needed. For those that do, I suggest you do some reading other than reading posts of other evo VIII owners.
The MIVEC produces a MUCH larger torque curve, better top end, and a good idle despite its duration.
And ryan, didnt I pull on you with just a drop in filter, a TBE and a MBC? Sorry to rub it in my friend, but state all the facts. Now that you have some huge upgraded turbo (along with thousands of dollars of other mods) doesnt justify your post. I'll be getting my reflash and still be under a $1000 spent on upgrades and running low 12 maybe high 11's. What do you non EVO IX owners have to say about that? Blah, Blah, Blah. Keep spending that money. Mines basicly stock.
Ive owned and built a 95 eclipse gsx that raced door to door with a 954rr. Built many road race cars and ice racers with many track records and wins. (just to somewhat justify my knowledge if necessary). Been road racing for 10+ years and grew up in the engine & transmission remanufacturing industry.
So compare apples to oranges. Or at least go race a upgraded EVO IX that has relatively the same mods. You'll get smoked. And when you all really learn how to drive, meet me on a road course. Ive got 5 on that.

Just for bragging, there are no IX in the 9,s yet. From what I hear most tuners in Japan do not use the mivec in big power IX's. I might be wrong though.
The torque curve is not that much larger it is just larger you make it sound like MIVEC is the Shizzle.

Lawrence, your missing th point here, you don't want to be one of "those" car owners, which i know your not. True, you did stay with me side by side in a 3rd gear pull when i had just the cams with other bolt ons, you did not pull on me though, remember! As far as spending money goes, this is my hobby, and as you know with hobby's it doens't matter how much you spend as long as you get there. in the next couple of months i will be spending $$$ to get a 10 second capable daily driver. My 20g-9 is a great turbo but i already have another Ball bearing turbo on order, not b/c i want to be faster than everyone else, but b/c i enjoy power and speed that much that i always need more!
I heard your race car is for sale, im kind of interested, let me know.
Edit* And as far as i know, there are no haters in here, like said in a previous post, we are all in the same boat

Btw, I'm jealous of IXs. Hell, if I had a IX and used my simple modding/tuning method, I'd be running 11.9s on pump gas and who knows how fast with race gas - all with only the most basic of mods. My VIII MR is great, but it just doesn't compare to a similarly-equipped IX.

People just have to come to grips with the fact that cars are always going to be made better as the years progress. I came to grips when the MR came out and i had my '03....now i have an 8 MR, but my purpose for this car has changed since my last car was totaled. I could care less what comes out, my car is going to consume my money untill the day i buy another tuner car. As far as the 9 goes, good for you guys that it cost only 2/3rds as much to make your cars faster(with bolt ons), really im happy for you, but in no way does it affect my way of looking at the Evo because of the plans i have for my current car.
Im sure i will spend every last penny there and then some and still not be completley satisfied, but i don't care, its my money, and my hobby.
