You don't have to buy the car locally. There are Evos for sale all over the country.

Agreed but if a person was to spend that money on mods that do make power it will be done minus the ACD of course.

I don't know what 8 vs 9 dynos your talking about.... The 8's I have seen anywhere from 230-240 for a pre 05 and around 250 for an 05. For the 9 I saw 260-270 on the same dyno. This is a little more like 40whp difference at the most to me.
Furthermore the "WarrTalon" needs to assume that not everyone has these specs like the back of their hand. This is a General area for a reason.

I am going to be in college next year however, I can handle the car payment when financing only $11-13000 after my down payment on say a $21-23,000 03 or 04 however an 05 I'm sure I'd have to shell out $25,000 for one and that puts me over my limit.

That is why it is an Evolution, because it gets better everytime. Not everyone wants to pay the price for a 9.

It appeared you were not being helpful. I mean I sold my EVO to buy a house, and then bought another one 3 months later. I would have bought a 9 but for all purposes payment being the most important favor I am stuck with 8. I feel he may be in a very similar boat. Sometimes I feel people are not as helpful as they should be in this community.
I see your point, end of story.

Look, it makes no sense to pay 26k for a freakin 03 that is out of warranty when he can buy a brand new one for that much or a barely-used 1-year-old 05. Why do you keep talking about adding $1000 of mods to an 03 just to get to the same power level as a newer model with a warranty, no mods, and a LOT more valuable? Why are you hung up on this modding-an-03-to-make-it-as-fast-as-a-newer-model-for-the-same-price? I just don't get it...

What really doesn't make any sense is that a 3 year old car could sell for only 3k less than the original sticker. Someone is the sucker here and it is not the dealer. On the other hand I paid $19.5 for my used/modded 03. The 20-21k range for an 03 is about right. I would not pay less even if it had lower miles, because the warranty will be gone anyways.
