o2 housing really worth it?

when i first got on this forum, changing the o2 housing wasnt really know to much...now all of a sudden there is this big boom of get o2 housing it's a must, blah blah blah. so my question is..for those who have 05's is it really worth changing the o2 housing if you already have the 10.5 hotsidE?

The o2 housing and 10.5 hotside are unrelated.

You're asking if a $100 part is worth changing. I'd say it's certainly worth it compared to something like...an intake, a shiny UICP, or name-brand BOV.

ok well i understand it's a 100$ part, no tune needed, increases flow or what not...but what advantages do you have with this part over the stocker? i searched for a bit about the o2 housing, but all i got were the, "wow it made a huge diference threads."

Yeah, it does give you more power. Ebay O2 is the one you should get. When I changed to ported Stock O2 housing, the gain wasn't that much. Then, I put this Ebay O2 on, I noticed more loudness from my exhuast when I do WOT. And, It turned out that I gained more than 10 WHP. It was just like Buschur's testing. It rasied my boost bit without any knock.

Don't forget to at least consider coating it. Sure it doubles the price but may be worth it to some.

I paid $50 for mine from ebay....I ported it myself....now it just needs to be sent off to get coated which is another $50. I wanted the JetHot coating but that would cost $120. Not worth it for such a cheap part.

For $50.....might as well. SSAUTOCHROME on Ebay.

I also got mine for like $59 on ebay. There seems to have been a price reduction, when I first looked it was $90-100...

It is my understanding that in addition to a small gain in power and low end torque, a tubular O2 housing noticeably reduces lag and increases throttle response. That is why I am going with one. I want my car to feel like there isn't even a turbo on it, or at least try to get it as close as I can.

Let's not forget it take a bit of work to put it on so if you have a 03-04 turbo get the hotside done too since the turbo and manifold has to come out.

Just type in, Stainless Steel Autochrome, they have a site and any of the versions offered on Ebay is ok as they are all the same as one and other.

I actually was a big fan of the housing upgrade for quite some time, it took awhile before a tuner was able to back up my experiences with hard numbers. This is DEFINITELY a wortwhile mod for the money.
