No need to apologise Just hope changing topics so often in a single thread isn't frowned upon!
Had the greatest experience today. Went to the local china buffet for lunch from work... pulling into a parking aisle looking for a space and right in front of me is my twin!! A beautiful white evo!! The only difference was that it was an Evo 8. It had gorgeous black Volk wheels with a polished lip. Made my day when my colleagues did a double-take and their jaws dropped
They look so hot parked next to one another.

OMFG I slayed the dragon today!!! Found out that Loudon TN is only about 50 miles from Deal's Gap...
My wife, brother-in-law and I took 68 East... what an awesome piece of road!!! Change in Elevation... hairpins, chicanes... !! and the views are spectacular!!! I'll upload pics once they are off my camera. Deal's Gap itself is incredible fun, the minis and the miatas were there this afternoon, and of course the bikers If you happen to be in TN you MUST hit 129 - it's EVO territory
11 miles 318 curves... I finished in about 11 minutes
The trip to TN from NJ was great too. Smooth, roads were good... but I wouldn't have minded cruise control - although it wasn't a real issue.
Made it here in 11 hours, including two stops! Watch out for local police - they are STRICT!!

Glad you like Deals Gap, The miata club goes there i think once a month. Only if you had gotten to go a week earlier, a bunch of evos were up there, along with s2000s, and i think a prelude group. That is the only thing I wished evos came with was cruise control for long trips, i go from TN to DC all the time and it sucks keeping your foot down. Killboy, a great photographer in that area, might have gotten some shots of you driving the mountain. take a look at killboy.com

Yeah, he was there with an Evo and a Focus... saw him snap me as I flew by. I checked his website - but he is still uploading the pics for the end of April, hope he caught me - the shots look great!!!
Wished I got to see the Evos!!! All the drivers are extremely courteous here - pulling to the side to let me pass - warning me if there are hazards/police ahead.

i drove my evo from wisconsin to nyc twice and i the only problems i have are trying not to speed through all the boringness....i made it through the state of indiana in an hour i

I got in mine with less than 3k and went for a long road trip also. I went to O'reilly Auto Parts and purchased a First Aid Kit and a Fire Extinguisher. I don't like to be the one who says " If I only would have bought the fire extinguisher, my car never would have burnt to the ground" (buddies totalled out that way....electrical fire)

This may be true but the V1 has been rated the best unite for quit some time. +1 for the V1

i disagree. The beltronics rx65 is much better than the V1. i have the beltronics, and i switched with a friend of mine for the V1 for a bit. wayyyyy too many false signals, no auto mute, can't tell which radar signal your getting in the dark and its tricky to navigate through the options. plus, in about 3 incidents, the beltronics picked up a cop whos hiding behind a turn sooner than the V1

ok folks, that's it. Drove back from Loudon TN on Sunday morning - headed straight up 81N through Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania (to Easton to see relatives) - then back to NJ !!
Was an awesome trip. Had no issues with ride comfort whatsoever. The car handled and performed like a dream, it was great to open her up. The Evo feels like it was born to be driven. No struggling or straining. i love this car more and more!!
Passing slower traffic was a real thrill!
Taking her in for scheduled maintenance on Saturday.
I am still blown away that a fully loaded trunk, and three people on board did nothing to dampen this cars performance. I would fill up before the tank emptied - but was hitting 300 miles way before running dry (probably get 340 miles total out the tank) thats around 29/30 mpg !!! !!
The whole way (500 miles) through Virginia it poured with rain, and I never lost confidence in the car - even with stock tires.
Thanks everyone for your help!!!
Killboy managed to capture me at Deal's Gap, so I'll be buying some shots when they are uploaded !!
