The condom fix: A man gone insane or pure genius?

My Greddy type RS is leaking and I can’t find my old type S to replace it with. I took it apart and found that the rubber diaphragm on the inside had cracked in several places. The replacement diaphragm is 60 to 80 bucks online, which is a rip off.
I’m looking at the diaphragm trying to think of a way to fix it. The diaphragm it self is pretty tough. It’s some sort of mesh material with a thin coating of rubber over it. I am thinking if I could just get some sort of rubber or latex to go over it, it may hold. Then it comes to me, a condom. I go grab a spare condom slide the rubber diaphragm inside. (At this point my wife is looking at me like I’m crazy.)
It fits pretty well but there is a lot of excess latex. I grab a pair of scissors and cut it in the middle, that leaves just enough extra to fold down on the inside to make kind of a double coating. I take the piece that holds the diaphragm in place and it looks like the original with an extra coating of latex.
I go put it all back together and take it for a test drive and it holds. Just to make sure I go take to a long stretch of country road and make several pulls to redline 1st through 4th just to make sure it stays and so far it does.
Worst case scenario it breaks in few days and the boost leak will come back. If that happens I will just will buy the Greddy replacement. After my initial testing though I think it’s going to hold.

Magnum of course.

be careful, latex breaks down in the presence of petroleum products and could end up getting blasted in to your intake if the blow-off valve is in recirc.

I thought about that before doing the "fix". The condom covered diaphragm is in the upper chamber of the valve so it won't be a problem.

Only works if you use Cherry ribbed with spermicide.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH that is helarious bro, it kind of remind me of my humble beginnings when i use to go to Walgreens and buy a $1.99 pantyhose and use it on my Plymouth Laser RS as a air filter covering the air mass sensor...

Hey man, as stupid as it sounds, if it works and fits the shoes then wear it.. My father told me a history about a trip that he made 30 plus years ago on a Renault 12 S and he said that he used a baby sucker in place of a missing oil pan plug, it actually worked..

I think you should put back your factory BOV and sell that piece of rice.

No thanks the factory one is a plastic POS. I may consider switching back to the slightly crushed 1g which I probably never should of changed from in the first place.
The RS actually works quit well as long as the diaphragm holds and if you recirc. It also doesn't have the ricey purple top like the type S.

Thanks for the suggestion though, considering I run higher than factory boost and the stock one can barely hold that.
