Evo Model
I just bought a 2004 EVO here in Brasil and I am not sure which model it is. The reason for this is that there were only 10 units sent to Brasil in the last two years and this 2004 model was taken off the store in Dec of 2005 (the cars come to Brasil 1 year late because the mechanics have to learn how to work in the car before the car is broght down).
The dealer says it was the EVO VIII but it does not have anything to
do with the american or european version. It has no ABS brakes, cheap seats, no carpets, nothing on the trunk (except the step tire - no carpets, nothing) no alarm system (you have to open the car using the keys). However it has the turbo engine and the option to chose snow, gravel and tarmac.
My question is: Is there an engine number somewhere or could I tell the
version of the car by the chassis number? Or is there any american version
that is like that?
Thanks for the response.

Sounds like an RS2 to me. Its still an EVO VIII, its just a less luxiurious version. With carpeting, and power windows and such removed for weight purposes.
Edit: Here you go, just for reference... this is as close as the american version gets, Just an RS

there is no version like that in the US, close to the RS but not quite the same, but parts sound like the 05's here with the ACD......weird. Compare your engine bay to that of ours posted on this site

The car has carbon fiber wings, enkei wheels, and I had to put after market leather seats and carpets because the car looked cheap inside (will put some pics tomorrow). This EVO costed 180 thousand reals (US$80k) but for Brasil that is cheap a 330 bmw costs US$130k.
The dealer said the car was as close as it could get to the wrc rally version.

Sou do Brasil também. Essa versão deve ser a RS ou RS2. Note que a Mitsubishi pode equipar as versões RS com acessórios de outras versões como vc deve ter visto na Mitracing um branco com suspensões Bilstein.

eighty thousand US dollars ... we have 130% import taxes on any foreign car
and have to pay another 50% profit to the dealer ...
our currecy is called "real" and 1 US dollar equals to 2.2 brazilian reals ...
you americans are lucky ... you guys get to buy very nice cars for 1/3 the price!
a 360 ferrari costs about 600 thousand US dollars here in brazil
and have to pay another 50% profit to the dealer ...
