Can i dump race gas into my evo, tuned for 93octane??
I have a baseflash from dynoflash and he said its tuned for 93 octane. I want to go to the dragstrip and was wondering if i can use race gas? They sell methanol grade 104-116. How empty should my tank be before puoring in a gallon? Does the race gas have to be a certain type so it wont ruin my engine or o2 sensor? Thanks for any help.

Most race gas over 100 octane is leaded so long term use is not good for unleaded engines just using it at the track wont hurt. If u still have ur cat it will effect/damage in the long run same thing for 02 sensor. As for ur tune i dont believe it could hurt in any way if any thing it will help it as ur tune is to maximize performance on 93 octane with ur mods so racegas will just complimant it, with c16=116oct. ur knock if any already will be non existent. I would say u could also bump ur boost up a few psi but that is to be done at ur own discretion.

Looks Like your heart is set running some race fuel, which is fine in the correct situation. Any 94-98 octane unleaded race gas is better choice, I am sure someone at VP or any other source you give you the answers you'll like to hear.
Good Luck

Your not going to want to dump leaded gas in there. Its really not going to do much unless your knocking on 93. Maybe putting a gallon in with 5-6 gallons of 93 which should give you a 97ish mix, and that should ensure you dont get any knock.
Race gas burns slower than normal pump gas so you need to lean it out or you actually might go slower unelss youre able to really tune for it, which since you have a flash, you cannot. Some guys choose to run a flash with an AFC. The AFC they have set to lean out their fuel trims when running race gas and have the boost turned up.
Leaded race gas over time can ruin your 02 sensor, however running a gallon here and ther wont hurt. Running it straight will do the job much quicker. It will also ruin your stock cat, but whose running those anymore haha

If you're not tuned for race gas and have no way to tune for it, then I suggest getting the lowest unleaded octane you can get, because this won't harm your o2 sensor and won't make you run rich. It will allow you to turn the boost up 2-3psi and rock out safely.
You don't have to empty your tank or anything. Just add some to whatever you already have, but it's best to be as empty as possible for weight savings.

there is a formula to figure out octane rating based on what you are using.
EX:
91oct X 10gal = 910
100oct X 4 gal = 400
total = 1310
1310/14(total # of gal) = 93.57 octane
I run 100 octane almost exclusively in the car. The only time I dont is when the pumps are dry at the local gas station. It will not hurt your car. I did it on the stock ecu and with the AEM which is tuned for 91. It just burns cleaner (runs better) at the top end and is added insurance.

I think im just gonna stay away from the real racegas. I dont want a ruined sensor with all these CEL codes to start popping up. How about those little octane boosters that are sold in walmart or autozone?? Do they really work? Wich ones are the safe ones to use??

dont waste your money on those boosters. They do little to raise the octance. Most only raise it .1-.3 never a full octane point. 100 octane will not hurt your car. Dont be scared. I ran it since day one on my vehicle and never once popped a cel. That was stock up to and including the mods in my sig. I only recently had the AEM installed (within the last month) the stock ecu can handle it.
