I know DCSilvrEvo. Just doesn't sound like something he would do, but who knows.

I think that when scammers do this they are normally in a financial crisis... what I mean by this is that they cant even afford to mod their own cars, so they do so at other peoples expense...

sucks

If that is true, it is really sad and pathetic. Makes no difference to me: as far as I am concerned, DCSilvrEvo is just a petty thief.... and should be treated as such.

He did not tell me his car got stolen, he told the forum. This was after RobS had been already trying to get his money back for at least a month.

Forum rules dictate that we do not get involved in transactions so I can not penalize him in anyway. If he scams another member then he is a repeat offender and the site would act to take away his priviledge.

During the time I was getting ready to sell my 04 SRT4 to get the EVO i met this local guy with an SRT4 who was interested in buying my parts. The only thing was that he had to give me his stock parts plus cash in exchange.

Anyway, he turned out to be a scammer as well.... He ripped me off of $20, and I let him walk out with a MBC trusting him in good faith that he would do the right thing and pay me later. LO and behold he never did pay me at all, and when I tried to get a hold of him he avoided all my calls, and eventually he changed his cell #...

The funny thing is when I asked him for his new cell, he would never give it to me.
This guy also has a -2 seller/buyer trader rating.

Apparently he has scammed at least 10 people and the majority of them have left him negative feedback.

Wanna hear something funny??? He even ripped off a well known vendor from the srtforums.com as well, and that vendor has proceeded to take legal action...

Other people have not been lucky since they lost more money, but for me at least I made it thru the aggravation and hassles, eventually got a hold of the guy and managed to get his stock parts in exchange for my mods plus cash.

In the whole deal with this guy i only lost $20......

The moral of the story is if you are selling something online, be weary and dont trust anyone... have them pay you first for the goods, or at least leave a deposit before you let them walk away with the stuff....

-- use paypal, since they can help you out if you are scammed
-- cash and carry, unless you know and trust the buyer very well
-- when dealing with people you dont know/trust, dont invite them to your house
to buy/pick up your stuff, especially if you have a nicely modded car....they might end up coming back and stealing from you later
--- meet the potential buyer somewhere public, a gas station, restaurant wherever.... and dont go by yourself..
--- LEAVE BUYER/SELLER feedback after each positive/negative transaction, this will help you with your credibility later on down the road as a buyer/seller...

Thats my 2cents worth of wisdom... someone hand me an antacid, the curry i ate is starting to act up....

This is very good advice! Although I have never been scammed I had a friend come by with other people that I didn't know. At the time I was installing my FMIC on my 240sx (battery was disconnected and alarm was disabled) and later that night my gauges were stollen out of my car. You can never be too careful on who you invite over to you house.

Luckilly, they stole the cheapest things out of my car (autometer gauges)

There was a guy on the SRT forums who got caught doing something like this. He thought he would never be found. The victim reported to the local police and when he got caught he told the guy he scammed that if he dropped the charges he would give him his money IIRC. The victim of the fraud said no way...I'll get my money anyways NOW and you'll get what's coming to you.
