05 evo8, IX, IX MR...
Looking at getting a brand new 05 Evo 8 (found one!!) or a 06 IX, or IX MR...
I know this quesion has been discussed b4. However, this is my scenario...
I will be using the car 1-3times per week as just a fun car. Try to keep miles off of it. Also, I won't really have the additional cash to mod the car anytime soon. I've always liked the MR and the 6-speed tranni just seems like a fun toy. However, I alos like the fact that the IX can come with sunroof/leather. I am 50/50 on weather I want the leather/sun or the MR. But also, on a second note, I hear a mix of opinions and a lot of ppl have told me just to stick with the Evo 8..
Which is the more reliable? Also, which suits me more based on what I've told you? Thanks.

There is no answer to which one is reliable.
As for which one suits you most, if you are only driving it 1-3 times a week as a fun car, then I don't see how you can afford a brand new 30-35k car yet not afford mods. How does that work? I don't think any new Evo suits someone who only drives it 1-3 times a week but has no money for mods. Those factors don't really add up...

I won't have the exra $$$ for mods because I have too many toys and food spending habits.

Don't let others try to make up your mind for you, I had an Evo 8 and loved it. I now have an Evo 9 and love it. So, no matter which you get you will be a proud owner of one of the greatest cars on the planest. Period.

If I was you, I would get the evo 8 and have that as your daily driver only(thats if you really want an evo)... because You don't want to build up debt while living at home...you want to save money for some kind of future.
You don't want to be buying stuff on impulse, especially an extra car!

I think I like the 9 more. And I believe having hte extra power ou of the factory might be more suiable for me then modding the car since I dont thinkI'll be able to do all of that right away. The 6-speed/Bilstein appeal to me on the MR edition, yet equally I want leather/sunroof. I'm just unsure how into the "handling/weight" perspective I am with the sunroof.. it goes 50/50.

Unless you're going to do some serious driving on a track, I doubt you will notice the weight difference between the SSL 9 and the MR. You will notice a difference in torque delivery from an 8 to a 9. So if you're going to keep it on the street.. then don't let weight be an issue.

buying a new car while living at home, eh not the best idea in my opinion but what do i know im only 21. also, to buy it and then be worried about the mileage? whats the point. if you arent going to be able to enjoy the car without thinking about how youre going to make the payments and depreciation, then maybe this just isnt the right time to buy the car.
but if you are going to buy one and youre worried about mileage which i assume is because of depreciation, buy a IX since a VIII is already a year old the minute you register it.
i love my o5 ssl, but if youre only going to drive it once in a while, a better stereo HIDs and leather shouldnt be worth the extra few K. good luck

The only reason I could see he would be concerned about mileage is the price of maintenance.

No offense, but it scares me to think of 19, 20, 21, etc year old evo drivers when I think back to the way me and my friends used to drive at that age.
Only get it if you are sure you can keep out of trouble, its really hard not to beat the living **** out of these cars on a daily basis. They are just too much fun to drive.
Good luck

I think you should get a cheap, affordable car and start buying stuff that will set you up to succeed in life..... like buying a townhome or something. If you're in college, just wait. You'll have plenty of opportunities to get a great car down the road. If you think you have enough $ for monthly payments, you shouldn't buy it. There will always be hidden costs, ect.

I use to say the same thing..." i will not mod the car" ......bah! after 9 months of ownership i was very wrong. You WILL mod it no matter what. At 19 i recommend something cheaper. Having an Evo is very expencive. Gas alone is a killer to your wallet. You say you gonna drive it 2-3 times a week? There is No way thats gonna happen since this car is such a blast to drive! what ever you decide good luck.
