Often times they will step up to the plate because legally the evidence exists that there is a known problem and it is documented on thier own paper. But, many times they would still win in court.

I wish the Goverment would mandate a recall on all evo trannies and clutches. Its funny I think the clutch that they use is the reason why were havin tranny problems. Ie syncros and gears. I dont undersatnd how mitsu can say ya we repair everything then you buy the car and they make our money and then say ooop jk were not going to help you out. Basically Mitsu owns us all now hahahahahahahahaha!

Nice double-post. Man, you need to chill out and stop post-whoring. You already got warned by VTECH8TR.

The clutch is not damaging the synchros and gears, dude. The clutches are fine...no need for a recall.

Once again I tried whoring last night he just erased them so now im doing it ligit. Anyways why would so many evo owners have issues with the clutches? And for syncros to go out on cars at ten thou miles why else would we be having problems?

The synchros go bad, because the synchros are bad, not because of the clutch. The clutches go out, because people don't know how to drive or they abuse them. Yes, the clutch was intentionally made weaker than some other clutches so as to save the drivetrain, but RedCloud went 95000 miles on his stock clutch and many many others have gone 40+, which is great for such a high powered car.

I have an 11 second daily driver that went over 50k miles and 50 trips down the 1/4 mile on the stock clutch. I would say that is more than you should expect from any car and you would be hard pressed to find any stock clutch that would withstand that kind of abuse.

rear driver site strut blew at 26k miles 2.5 years and was replaced under warranty
some infamous paint chips behind a rear driver side door
no other issues whatsoever (no racing/autocrossing, daily driver)

I have an 03 since June of 2003. Works great. My stock clutch went at 33K miles with about 350WHP. My stock struts started going about 40K although I was VERY had on them and traveled very far with POS TEIN H-TECHS so I guess that was it.

I now have Coilovers and sway bars and so on. Engine is FINE, turbo is fine. My rear door handle DID fall off but was replaced under warranty.

I bought a used 03 about 2 months ago Had 31k miles on it got it for 22,500.

Seems fine..there is a loud whine coming form somewhere under the hood, its loud on the freeway. IM guessing its diff noise or something.

Other than that its fine, the wing is faded. and the clear is chipping off. I need to take it in to get replaced.

With a car like this you are going to find some good used buys where people took good care of them, and you are going to find the ones where people bought them and ragged the **** out of them and then sold them or traded them in. You are better off buying from an individulal you can talk too about the car, rather than buying one at a dealership. I heard of several people tracking the hell out of the car, partially broke the car limped it to the dealership and traded it in. If you get one of those cars chances are your going to have problems. Another thing to point out is the appeal to the younger crowd 21 and under, you want to stay away from buying a car a younger guy had. They are alot harder on the cars and have less driving experience which equates to clutch and tranny problems which this car already has a sensative tranny & clutch from the factory. ***Note if you are 21 and under don't start crying about how much more mature and responsible you are, I'm not asking. Most of my problem is with the babies who's parents buy them a 30+ thousand dollar car and don't know what it means to earn it. Therefore what you don't have to earn or pay for, you don't have to take care of. So don't bash the car for being junk.

'03 since april 03.
lets see:

stock clutch went @ 18,000 miles.
Famous 5th gear synchro grind somewhere in the 20's
Transfer case broke next (my fault!!)- loud whining sound on the highway ( to the above poster that what it sounds like bro!)
5th gear goes out again 6 mos later( this time they replaced with newer model synchros- been good ever since)
Front left axle goes- weird noise when making slow left turns. 45,000 miles
Right front axle goes - about 6 months later 55,000- oh wait its not the front right axle claims mitsu after replacing it and still the same noise.. oh thats right - its your struts!

Recently replaced both front struts- drives fine again.

Currently @ 57000 miles and clutch is slipping again =D
Wing is faded, inside the back right door paint chips, brakes are bubbled.

I couldnt be happier with the car and wouldnt think twice about buying another one or recommending someone else to buy one. Sure its got some issues, but its the most fun car you can have for 30g. I could care less about paintchips or faded spoiler/brakes- as long as the car performs- which it does =D
