Tire pressures and Gas milage with the stock wheels and Tires

I've been running the factory reccommend tire pressures of 32 and 29 f/r and my gas mileage ranged from 16.5 to 18 during normal driving. After reading my Owers Manual a little more I saw that the factory recommends at least 38 and 35 psi for sustained driving 106 mph or greater {not that i drive that fast }. I figured what the heck I'll try 39 and 36. Guess what my gas mileage went up to ~18.5 to 19.5 and my driving habits haven't gotten any better. They're probably worse.

I've got a little over 3.1k. My first oil change was at ~2600. I'm starting to really like this car.

I keep my tire pressure at 34 front, 31 back (2 lbs above recommended). It helps gas mileage a tiny bit, I imagine.

36 front, 33 back. Avg 27mpg w/no boost. I run Potenza SO3 in summer, and Dunlop Winter Sport M3 in the winter.

Maybe I'd get better mileage, but my car is definitely harder to control with increased tire pressure. I run 32/29.
