Seems pretty on par with most of the IX buyers around the country except perhaps the deals from South Coast Mitsu in California. They have the best deals around it seems.

I think it's a great price. Once you factor in the tax and title, I don't think South Coast's prices are lower, although I'd have to know the tax rate and crunch the numbers to be sure.

They're much lower, but when people tell us what they paid OTD, it doesn't help. All that matters is the purchase price, because the rest is out of your control and is not relevant to the "deal" that one receives.
So, for us to make a determination, we need to know the purchase price and what type of IX he bought...base IX or IX w/ssl. Overall, getting out the door for 33k on a IX isn't a rip-off.

wow, fast replies here =)
well i am not sure about the purchase price. I told them i wanted it for 32500 OTD, they said that was was too low and they offered 32900 otd. I said ok, and signed away.
the tax here is 8.25%.
i got the evo 9, no options.
i should have asked them to throw in the sports meter kit
thanks for the replies!

Edit: Per this thread South Coast is now charging $28,999 for the base GSR, including destination.
If you'd bought the car in California as a resident here, you would have paid around 8.25% sales tax, depending upon the county, plus another $450 (my very rough guess) for the registration and a few other fees charged by this state.
So the total OTD would be, very roughly, $28,999 x 1.0825 + $450 = about $31,840, a bit less than you paid, but nothing worth losing sleep over.
You should bear in mind that South Coast is selling at their cost, with no profit, to pump up their Evo volume; the more they sell the more they get. Other dealers are trying to make a profit, for understandable reasons.
So ... maybe you gave your dealer about $1,000 in profit (or even less, if the fees were higher in NY). That's not an outrageous amount. For reference, I gave my dealer $500 in profit, but they gave me a great trade-in value on my RX-8.

Hmm, that is strange to purchase a car without knowing the purchase price. That means they were free to do anything they wanted behind the scenes to skew the numbers in their favor while making it look good to you. I just hope you actually got a good deal, because the TTL is out of their control, so the only thing to negotiate is the purchase price. They can fudge things here and there to meet a blank request like that.

I got my 06 IX SSL for $31k OTD with an $825 Lojack Early Warning System package. I paid $2250 under dealer Invoice for the vehicle.
