Best Car Alarm?

feel i need something better than the 'club' to protect my evo ix from theives. my cousin has a compustar on his vw gti and he loves it and i know a couple people running lowjack but other than that don't have much input. what kind of car alarm setups are you guys running? and what did you pay?

I had the Ungo SR5000 in the yellow EVO, and I have the Ungo SR6000 in the blue one. The installation of the 6000 was much easier than the 5000 as the remote-start solenoid is all one unit. I also installed the 6000 in my buddies STi a couple of months ago also. It was a snap. Great alarms for the price, ($130 on fleabay). Just like most of the alarms on the market, it is built by DEI, but marketed under a different name. This one being Clarion/Ungo.

just my .02.

^^ +1 Had the Viper w/prox. sensors on my spyder GST. Only problem I had is that rain would actually set off my alarm. My friends thought waving their hands around making it go off was funny too.

DEI practically owns the entire alarm market. Viper, Clifford, Python and Avital are all their brands. I have a Viper 500 in one car and a Clifford G5 in another. Both work great. Just make sure to get it installed by a good dealer. In my cars, you can't see any wires anywhere, the horn is completely hidden and so is the back up battery. Even the alarm brain, wiring and harness are completely hidden and can't tell it apart from the original vehicle wires. You might also want to consider some kill switches. I have two kill switches in each car, located where you would never expect it. Each car also has triggers on the hoods, trunks, and doors. I didn't pay for the alarms and my homies at a shop installed em for free so can't give you any guidance on the price.

Of course.. they can configure an output to an actuator that'll open your trunk. That's easy.

Besides a good alarm, have a good installer do it. Because what good is an alarm if it's wired up like crap.
