Are you serious right now? Posts like this make this forum look rediculous. If you wanna ask something like that you shouldn't be driving an evo. If anything you should be at a garage learning ****! Wow I cannot believe people actually answered you, not to mention some of the answers!!!! UNREAL!

When Hondas V-tec kicks in it adds to the rice sound since there is no turbo. Check out this video: http://videos.streetfire.net/search/...02AC77626C.htm

Kind of interesting to see it activate though.

coming from the "ricer" NA crowd i can tell you that having a gutted cat, no cat, cheap exhaust components, a heavy foot, will lead to a ricey sound on almost every car. but turboed cars will sound meaner but still ricey.

i've got a magnaflow exhaust on my oz and it doesn't sound ricey at all. i'm prepping for a turbo install and i'm curious to see how it sounds after the turbo goes in

Most honda exhausts sound like crap because most of the owners are kids, and they buy cheap parts for there cars. Most just put on an obx muffler and call it a day. Some actually want that bees in a can sound. I had an rsx type-s before the evo, and I had the greddy evo-2 exhaust on it. In my opinion, it sounded much better than my evo does with the hks cf titanium exhaust.

also depends on the peoples taste. what does "rice" really sound like anyway. Ricers basically like to hear a really loud and annoying sound. And plus...im sure alot of the parts they put on their busted up civics are alot lower quality than parts u'd put on an evo. cheap exhausts sounds cheap.

Go drive a 240+ wheel hp 1.8l or 2.0l B Series Honda, they sound awesome. The big cammed high compression cars are cool in my book. It's the ricers with just exhaust and intake that bother me. But it's all in the eyes/ears of the beholder.

Honestly I think it really does have nothing to do with displacement. A buddy of mine has a 350z with an ApexI N1 exhaust, and it sounds a bit ricey. Although it does sound kind of cool, just not as bad-*** as my Evo. Muah ha! Slow 350.

Yeah, nothing like that boxxer engine sound. Love it. But I will stick with my 4G63 and big cams.
