My guess would be the alternator is having to work harder to power the lights, as your batteries arent provding enough juice.

Your car is drawing a lot of power and the alternator is struggling to keep up....Try turning all electronics on (stereo, A/C, lights, etc.) at idle and then turn them all off.....Now do the same but rev the car up to like 2500 rpm and look for the difference...

Watch the voltage gauge and check the amperage coming from the alternator.....

If the car isn't sustaining over 14 volts on idle, then you alternator is on heavy load and ur bat is going to be dead sooner or later. and the alternator will have a higher failure chance.

This kinda sucks, is everyone having this problem with the smaller batteries?

Clearly this will kill the alternator much quicker considering it's working so hard to maintain proper voltages.

Get a grounding kit that will take care of that problem

Doubt it. Get a Optima yellow top as a primary or secondary battery.

The alternator charges @14 v +/- , I dont know of any batteries that that are 14v at rest . So no matter what batt you have the Alt is still going to work to raise the V up from 12.6 (most batt rest V) up to 14.4V Alt charging V .

So imo no , its no the batt . If your idle sucks when you trun on the lights with a (good working) small batt it should still suck with bigger batt .

I had this problem and found the positive connection to be bad. Just try cleaning the contacts on the wire and battery.

Sounds like a poor connection on your 12v line or perhaps poor grounding somewhere in your electrical system. Your headlights dont draw that much power and shouldn't be a big factor in this.
